Job Title: Resident Engineer (Red Hat OpenShift & Infrastructure)
Location: Dubai, UCMC
Duration: 1 year extendable
Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Resident Engineer to serve as a dedicated, onsite technical expert for a key enterprise customer.
In this role, you will act as an extension of the customer’s IT team, providing day-to-day administration, optimization, and strategic guidance for their mission-critical Red Hat environments.
The ideal candidate will possess deep administrative expertise in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Red Hat Satellite Server, ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of the customer’s infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
OpenShift Administration: Manage, maintain, and upgrade Red Hat OpenShift clusters.
Execute and manage regular patch updates and version lifecycle management for OpenShift Clusters to ensure stability and security.
Handle day-two operations, including node scaling, access control, routing, and monitoring cluster health.Linux Systems Management: Perform advanced Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration, including executing routine system patch updates, installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting across physical and virtual environments.Satellite Infrastructure Management: Administer Red Hat Satellite Server to manage the RHEL lifecycle.
Maintain content views, lifecycle environments, activation keys, and ensure consistent patch management and compliance across the fleet.Vendor Coordination & Support: Serve as the primary liaison with the vendor.
Proactively open and manage technical support cases (tickets) for complex incidents, and actively coordinate with Red Hat's Technical Account Manager (TAM) to expedite resolutions, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure strategic alignment.Proactive Maintenance: Conduct regular system health checks, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact business operations.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration and enterprise infrastructure management.Container Platforms: Proven experience deploying, administering, and troubleshooting Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (v4.x preferred) and underlying container runtimes.Operating Systems: Deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9/10) architecture, administration, and lifecycle management.Infrastructure Tools: Strong, hands-on experience administering Red Hat Satellite Server for large-scale patching, provisioning, and subscription management.Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to build strong relationships with enterprise customers, manage stakeholder expectations, and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Qualifications:
Advanced Cluster Operations: Experience deploying and operating Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (RHACM) for multi-cluster lifecycle management and Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (RHACS) for robust, Kubernetes-native protection.Storage & Registry Management: Familiarity with OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF) for persistent container storage provisioning and Red Hat Quay for secure, enterprise container image registry management.Certifications: Red Hat certifications are highly desired, such as:Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift AdministrationRed Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
