Role Overview As a Junior Java Software Engineer, you'll help develop high-quality, scalable applications as part of a collaborative engineering team reporting to the Head of Engineering. You'll work closely with more senior colleagues and clients to understand technical designs and user stories, while developing your own skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Design, build, test and maintain Java-based backend solutionsWork with microservices architecture and RESTful APIsApply best practices for scalability and securityContribute to discussions on technical designs and estimated effortCommunicate technical concepts clearly to teammates and clientsTake ownership of tasks and proactively solve problemsLearn from and share knowledge with the wider teamSupport integration with AWS services and SQL databases What You'll Need Essential: 1+ years Java experience1+ years' practical experience with Spring BootExperience in 3 or more of: TDD, BDD/Cucumber, performance testing (e.g. JMeter), penetration testing/OWASP, Kubernetes/container orchestrationExperience designing, creating and calling HTTP APIsSQL database experience (e.g. Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB)Experience with AWS servicesComfortable working in a team with minimal supervision Desirable: CI/CD pipeline setup and configurationNoSQL/document databasesELK stack, Apache KafkaSpring Security and OAuth2 flowsReact or React NativeKeycloak, CamundaOpenAPI/Swagger, Nginx setup
