Sony Music’s Product, Design, Engineering and Global Operations (PDEGO) organization is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team in our London office. You’ll help build and evolve the platforms that power some of the most critical areas of our global business and support artists, songwriters, labels, and partners around the world. This is an opportunity to solve complex engineering challenges at scale while working closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to modernize the systems that support the music industry. What you'll do: Build and enhance scalable applications that support Sony Music’s global products and platformsDesign, develop, and maintain high-quality software across the full application stackCollaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into reliable technical solutionsWrite clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with a focus on long-term quality and system reliabilityParticipate in architecture discussions, technical design, and modernization initiatives across our platformsDesign APIs and services that integrate with internal systems and third-party platformsHelp improve application performance, observability, scalability, and operational excellenceMentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharingPartner closely with engineering leadership to establish engineering best practices and continuously improve development processesTroubleshoot production issues using logs, monitoring, and root-cause analysis to ensure platform stability Who you are: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining complex software applicationsExperience implementing distributed systems and service-oriented architecturesStrong experience with Python and JavaScriptExperience building frontend applications using TypeScript and ReactExperience working with databases and query technologies such as MySQL, Snowflake, Neo4j, Kafka, OpenSearch, or similar platformsExperience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and working with HTTP and OAuth standardsComfortable working within AWS cloud environmentsExperience writing unit, integration, and automated testsExperience investigating production issues through logging, monitoring, and performance analysisExperience working in Agile development environmentsStrong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and business teamsInterest in learning the complexities of the systems and business processes that support the global music industry The ideal candidate: Experience building software for financial, accounting, ERP, payments, e-commerce, content, data, or other highly complex and data-intensive business systemsExperience modeling complex business domains and translating business rules into scalable software solutionsStrong understanding of data modeling, schema design, and relational databasesExperience optimizing application performance, database queries, and large-scale data processingPassion for improving engineering standards, developer tooling, and technical documentationDemonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead technical initiatives without direct people-management responsibilityCurious, collaborative, and proactive, with a continuous-improvement mindsetInterest in music, technology, and building systems that directly support artists and creators What we give you: You join a vibrant global community with the opportunity to channel your passion every dayA modern office environment designed for you, empowering you to bring your bestInvestment in your professional growth and development enabling you to thrive in our vibrant communityThe space to accelerate progress, positively disrupt and create what happens nextWe give you the platform to champion positive change, with the opportunity to contribute to our social impact, diversity, equity and inclusion initiativesWe provide an excellent range of benefits like private medical cover, a generous pension scheme, life assurance, income protection, plus loads of music industry perks.
