Lead Backend Engineer (Golang) Location: Hybrid – 2 days per month in London Salary: £75,000 to £80,000 The Opportunity We’re working with a fast-growing, global digital platform used by millions of users each month, now scaling into new international markets. They’re looking for a Senior / Lead Backend Engineer (Golang) to help design and build high-performance, scalable systems powering a high-traffic marketplace. This is a hands-on engineering role with strong influence over architecture, scalability, and system design. What You’ll Be Doing Build and scale backend services using Golang (Go)Design high-performance, distributed systemsDevelop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservicesImprove system performance, reliability, and scalabilityWork closely with product and engineering teams to deliver new featuresContribute to technical direction and best practices Tech Environment Golang (Go) – core backend languageMicroservices architectureREST APIs + gRPCSQL / NoSQL databasesContainerised environments (Docker/Kubernetes)Modern CI/CD pipelines What We’re Looking For Strong commercial experience with Golang (Go)Background in backend or distributed systems engineeringExperience building scalable, high-traffic applicationsSolid understanding of APIs, microservices, and system designComfortable working in a fast-paced, product-led environment Nice to have (not essential): Frontend exposure (any framework)Experience with large-scale marketplace platforms Why Join?
