DevOps Engineer

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site DevOps Engineer role based in Amman. The DevOps Engineer will work closely with development and operations teams to build, maintain, and improve deployment pipelines and cloud infrastructure. The role involves automating infrastructure and deployment processes, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ensuring the availability, security, and performance of Linux-based systems, and supporting development, staging, and production environments. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for maintaining CI/CD pipelines, managing cloud resources, monitoring applications and infrastructure, troubleshooting production issues, and continuously improving deployment workflows, reliability, and system performance. Responsibilities Deploy and manage applications using Docker and Docker Compose.Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployments.Manage and maintain Linux servers and cloud infrastructure.Deploy and manage applications on AWS or other cloud providers.Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu.Configure and maintain Nginx, reverse proxies, SSL certificates, DNS, and networking components.Manage development, staging, and production environments.Monitor server, infrastructure, and application performance, logs, and resource utilization.Troubleshoot deployment, infrastructure, networking, server, and application issues.Manage backups and support disaster recovery (DR) processes.Ensure high availability, scalability, reliability, and security of production environments.Apply infrastructure security best practices, including system hardening, patch management, access control, and secure configuration.Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment tasks using Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.Work closely with development teams to improve deployment processes, release management, and infrastructure workflows.Support database and application infrastructure when required.Document infrastructure, deployment procedures, and operational best practices.Requirements 3+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or System Administration.Strong practical knowledge of Linux system administration.Hands-on experience with Docker and Docker Compose.Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms (Azure or GCP is a plus).Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu.Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible (or similar tools).Good knowledge of Git and version control workflows.Strong understanding of Nginx, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL, reverse proxies, and networking concepts.Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases.Experience with server monitoring, log analysis, and performance troubleshooting.Strong scripting skills using Bash, Python, or similar languages.Good understanding of security best practices, infrastructure hardening, and access management.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Nice to Have Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Load Balancers, IAM, and VPC.Experience with Kubernetes.Experience with Redis.Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.Familiarity with ELK Stack, Loki, or similar logging platforms.Knowledge of container orchestration, cloud-native architectures, and microservices.Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
