Job Title: Backend Developer (Ruby)
Location: Cyprus (Hybrid/Remote)
Salary Range: €5,500 – €6,500 gross per month

Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer (Ruby) to join our engineering team.
You will be responsible for designing and developing backend services, building scalable APIs and microservices, and contributing to the core banking platform.
You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, and other business teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs.Build and support scalable microservices powering our banking platform.Develop new product features and improve existing functionality.Work on core business domains, including onboarding and verification, payments, notifications, reporting, risk, and analytics.Participate in designing service architecture and distributed systems.Collaborate closely with product managers, QA engineers, and other development teams.Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system reliability and performance.Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
3+ years of commercial experience with Ruby development.Strong knowledge of Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, and PostgreSQL.Experience building backend services with non-Rails Ruby frameworks (Sinatra, Grape, or similar) and designing service-oriented architecture.Experience building and maintaining REST APIs.Experience with microservices and event-driven architecture.Experience working with RabbitMQ or other message brokers.Understanding of security best practices for backend services.Solid understanding of distributed systems and backend architecture.Experience troubleshooting and debugging production issues.Experience with Docker.Upper Middle or Senior level.Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.Fluent Russian language proficiency is required.English proficiency at the Intermediate (B1) level or above, sufficient to read and understand technical documentation.Good communication skills and experience working in cross-functional engineering teams.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Trailblazer, dry-rb, Redis, and MongoDB.Experience in fintech, digital banking, or payment systems.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS is a plus).Experience with Kubernetes.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is a plus.
