Summary
A technology company is seeking a full-stack developer with a frontend focus to create interactive, data-rich applications. The role involves building modern web interfaces, backend services, mapping experiences, and AI-powered features while collaborating with engineering and product teams.
Highlights
Opportunity to build advanced interactive applications with real-time data, own features end-to-end, influence architecture decisions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on innovative technology.
Description
The short versionVesselFront builds an AI weather-routing and voyage-optimization platform for commercial fleets, utilizing multi-agent voyage optimization processes that pairs learned patterns from millions of nautical miles with the hard constraints of physics, regulation, and vessel limits.
Every recommendation is explainable, auditable, and validated against real voyages.
We're looking for a full-stack developer with a frontend center of gravity who can turn a live nautical chart into an intuitive product.
If you like maps, real-time data, and owning a feature end-to-end (and explaining your thinking clearly along the way), read on.
What you'll actually work onFew things that you will work on:
Interactive chart tools: draw, measure, and plan routes directly on maps.Data-visualization features: weather charts, animated overlays and particle effects layered onto voyage simulations.Map tile with several layers.Full-stack features: You would own features end to end.
From the chart on screen to the API and the model calls behind it.UI/UX and theming ownership; you shape the experience, not just implement someone else's mockups.Technical calls on architectural problems and technology selection.Cross-team collaboration: work with product, backend and the data science team to turn loosely-specified ideas into shipped features.Technology: - A React + TypeScript app (Vite, MUI) with heavy geospatial UI.
- A Node.js + TypeScript backend (Express, Sequelize over PostgreSQL, Redis) that orchestrates optimization runs.Must-havesReact + TypeScript + modern JavaScript (ES6+): 3+ years of strong, hands-on building production apps with Typescript on both sides (React front end, Node/Express back end).Web-mapping / geospatial libraries: Leaflet, Mapbox, OpenLayers or similar.Genuine full-stack ability: comfortable in Node.js, designing/writing REST APIs, and working with PostgreSQL/PostGIS and a geospatial data server.Data-heavy, interactive UIs: dashboards, charts, real-time data from REST APIs.Strong communication skills: you take a vague ticket or a product conversation, ask the right questions, and drive it to a clear outcome.
You write clearly and coordinate across teams without hand-holding.Presentation skills: you're fluent in presenting your work to a room, from design reviews and stakeholder updates to speaking at meetups or conferences on the product's behalf.Solid testing habits and mindset: Jest / Testing Library.Agile/sprint workflow and Git-based collaboration. An eye for design and interaction detail. An AI-first mindset: you treat AI as a core part of how you build: fluent with AI-assisted coding tools to move faster, and thoughtful about where they help versus where they need checking.
Comfortable working on a product where AI models sit at the core, and interested in surfacing their reasoning clearly to users.Nice-to-havesDomain experience: maritime, Earth Observation, ClimateTech or another geospatial field.Hands-on agentic AI experience: you've built and shipped something agentic, not just called an LLM API (tool-using agents, multi-step workflows, or orchestration), and understand the design thinking behind it: when to hand a model control, how to keep it grounded, and where autonomy needs guardrails.Experience with: - Authentication/identity.
- Payments integration.
