We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a newly formed team modernizing a product portfolio for a leading SaaS provider. You will help build a new unified frontend and integrate backend capabilities across multiple existing applications. This is a unique opportunity to join at the beginning of a new team, shaping the technical direction and engineering culture from day one. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining backend services using Node.js and Python, exposing APIs that integrate multiple products, and taking ownership of features from design through to production.

We're expanding our growing Zagreb Engineering Centre of Excellence with a brand-new Suite team.
This team will play a key role in modernising our product portfolio by building a new unified frontend while integrating backend capabilities across multiple existing applications.

Initially you'll help expose and consolidate APIs across multiple products while supporting a brand-new React frontend.
As the platform evolves, you'll play an important role in building the next generation of our Suite products using modern cloud-native technologies.
Working alongside Product, Design and QA from the outset, you'll be part of cross-functional teams focused on delivering high-quality software rather than following rigid processes.
What you'll be doing:
Design, build and maintain backend services using Node.js and PythonDevelop and expose APIs that integrate multiple existing F24 productsContribute to architectural decisions and technical directionCollaborate closely with Frontend, Product, Design and QA teamsTake ownership of features from design through to productionEnsure solutions are scalable, secure and maintainableSupport modern engineering practices including code reviews and automated testingContribute to the evolution of a brand-new engineering team
You'll likely have experience with:
Strong commercial experience with Node.jsExperience with NestJS (or similar frameworks such as Express or Fastify)Python development, ideally using FastAPIREST APIs and distributed systemsModern software architecture and cloud-native developmentCI/CD and automated testingWorking within agile product teamsTaking ownership of technical decisions and delivery
Experience with React or frontend technologies is beneficial but not essential—this role has a strong backend focus.
