This role requires relocation to Taipei, Taiwan.
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Cloud Platform & Infrastructure Engineer responsible for the reliability, security and performance of our cloud platform.
You will support production systems spanning web applications, edge delivery, cloud infrastructure, container platforms and distributed services.
This role requires an engineer who understands why architectures are designed a certain way—not just how to configure individual technologies.
You will work closely with Software Engineering, DevOps and Product teams to solve complex production challenges and continuously improve the platform.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, operate and continuously improve a secure, scalable and highly available cloud platform.
· Own production troubleshooting across the complete request lifecycle—from browser to backend services.
· Review and influence architectural decisions relating to application delivery, API design, networking and platform resilience.
· Support Linux-based production environments, container platforms and distributed application services.
· Work closely with DevOps teams by understanding CI/CD workflows and assisting with deployment-related production issues.
· Drive operational excellence through monitoring, automation, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
· Promote security-first engineering practices across infrastructure, networking and application delivery.
Technical Requirements Web Protocols & Internet Architecture
Demonstrated understanding of modern web technologies beyond day-to-day operational knowledge.
Candidates should be comfortable reasoning about browser behaviour, developer tools, request waterfalls, session lifecycle, storage mechanisms, HTTP protocol behaviour (including HTTP/2 and HTTP/3), TLS and PKI, certificate trust, DNS architecture, reverse proxies, caching behaviour, and diagnosing production issues using browser and network analysis.
Edge Delivery & Traffic Engineering
Strong understanding of globally distributed application delivery and edge computing.
Able to determine where logic should execute (browser, edge, gateway, application or backend), design effective caching strategies, implement security policies, optimise request routing, and troubleshoot latency, cache behaviour, origin connectivity, TLS termination and traffic management issues.
Cloud Platform & Container Architecture
Strong understanding of modern cloud-native application architecture, including containerised microservices, service-to-service communication, service discovery, deployment strategies, workload scaling, health management, application networking, resilience, fault isolation and high availability.
Comfortable diagnosing deployment, networking and operational issues across production container platforms.
API Architecture & Distributed Systems
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and justify API architectures based on scalability, security, latency, operational complexity and cost.
Able to determine when requests should be processed at the edge, through an API gateway, behind load balancers or directly by application services.
Understand authentication, authorisation, request validation, rate limiting, versioning, retries, timeout strategies, circuit breakers, idempotency, asynchronous messaging, and resilient service design.
Able to defend architectural decisions with sound technical reasoning.
Operations & Linux Engineering
Strong Linux administration skills with practical experience in system performance analysis, networking, process management, log analysis, scripting and production troubleshooting.
Operational knowledge of Node.js and Java-based applications, relational databases and messaging platforms such as RabbitMQ is expected.
Security
Security is fundamental to this role.
Candidates should understand secure application delivery, least-privilege access control, secrets management, API protection, WAF design, zero-trust concepts, infrastructure hardening, network segmentation, encryption, OWASP Top 10, monitoring, auditing and incident response.
What We're Looking For
We value engineers who understand why systems behave the way they do—not just how to configure them.
Successful candidates can challenge architectural assumptions, explain technical trade-offs, and troubleshoot complex production issues spanning browser, edge, network, cloud platform, containers, application services and data layers.
We are looking for engineering judgement, curiosity and a security-first mindset.
