Candidates need at least three years of relevant experience, strong GCP expertise, automation skills, and the ability to take full ownership of production systems.
Highlights
High ownership over production infrastructure, broad responsibility across reliability, security, automation, and cost, and the opportunity to support a mission-driven global learning platform.
Description
About the RoleSolve Education! is hiring a DevOps / Cloud Engineer to build and own the cloud foundation behind our mission: helping young people everywhere reach their potential through accessible, AI-powered learning.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants their work to keep a global learning platform reliable, secure, and cost-efficient.
You’ll design, operate, and improve our cloud environment (primarily GCP, with some AWS) across infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, security, reliability, and cost.
You’ll work with a high degree of autonomy and make sound calls without waiting for direction.
Our stack: GCP (primary) and AWS · Terraform · GitLab CI · Python/Bash for automation.
Before You ApplyThis role carries real ownership of production systems learners depend on.
You’ll handle ambiguity, balance competing priorities, and weigh reliability, security, and cost in your decisions.
Some of the near-term work is foundational — tightening how we manage access, credentials, and deployments.
We look for engineers who stay composed under pressure, take full accountability, and hold a high bar without close supervision.
If you want a role where infrastructure decisions have visible impact and your work directly supports a mission that matters, we’d love to hear from you.
ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure & IaC
Design, build, and manage cloud infrastructure on GCP (and AWS where needed) using Terraform.Keep infrastructure available, performant, and scalable as the platform grows.CI/CD & Deployments
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI) for fast, safe, repeatable deployments.Manage releases, rollbacks, and deployment safety to minimize disruption.Security, Reliability & Monitoring
Apply least-privilege access, sensible network configuration, and good secrets management.Run monitoring, logging, and incident response; keep downtime low and detection useful.Maintain backups and a workable disaster-recovery plan.Cost & Collaboration
Keep cloud spend visible and efficient with budgets and usage controls.Work with the Product & Technology team so infrastructure supports what’s being built, and keep documentation and operational standards up to date.
What We’re Looking For3+ years in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering.Hands-on experience with GCP (AWS experience a plus).Proficiency with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or equivalent).Solid cloud-security fundamentals: IAM, least-privilege, networking, and secrets management.Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident response.Scripting for automation (Python or Bash).Pragmatic judgment about reliability vs.
cost, with the ability to work independently and own outcomes.
Bonus Points If You HaveContainerized workloads (Cloud Run, ECS) and basic orchestration.Experience moving from static credentials to federated identity (Workload Identity Federation, OIDC).Exposure to data-platform infrastructure (BigQuery, Airflow).A habit of using AI tools to speed up infrastructure and automation work.Experience in mission-driven or non-profit organizations.
Why Join Us?You’ll be joining a team with a bold mission to transform education.
We don’t expect perfection, but we do expect creativity, ownership, and a strong learning attitude.
