Founding Mobile Engineer

What is OmaScan? OmaScan is a healthtech startup helping seniors and people with accessibility challenges live longer, safer, more independent lives at home. I named the company after the word Oma, meaning Grandmother. Getting a home assessed for modifications is slow and manual. Occupational therapists spend hours measuring, documenting, and chasing paperwork after every visit, while clients wait months on waitlists. We're building an AI assistant that comes with the assessor, measures the home itself using the phone's LiDAR, and handles the paperwork and follow-up work afterwards so the assessor can focus on what matters: the patient. We've raised angel funding, run pilots across four provinces, and have a 200+ clinician waitlist. We are looking to bring on a strong UX focused Founding Mobile Engineer to build our mobile app. The Role This is a founding engineering hire. You'll work directly with the CEO and our founding AI engineers, and you'll own the mobile app end to end. This is an opportunity to architect and build something from scratch, without technical debt. Our app is used by an Occupational Therapist or a trained assistant standing in a client's home, phone in one hand, often with the client right there. Every design decision happens with that context in mind. You will own: The mobile experience across both surfaces: the assessor app that captures the visit (voice, photos, measurements, 3D scan) and the client-facing app.Design and UX. It doesn't matter how good the technology is. If the user experience is confusing or slow, the product fails.3D capture: React Native shell with native ARKit modules, camera, audio, and sensor integrations, and performance in real homes.Live AI Integrations (Gemini Live API or similar)Integration with our cloud pipeline and the AI systems that turn captures into reports.Automated testing for AI-written code: simulator-driven UI tests, E2E flows, and more. You'll sit in on customer calls, travel to pilot sites, and watch real assessors use what you built. As the company grows, this role can grow into a technical leadership seat.
