Summary
Join an early-stage technology team building secure, scalable backend services for an AI-driven platform. You will develop APIs and data pipelines, strengthen tenant isolation and access controls, improve production reliability, and help embed security and compliance practices into engineering workflows. The role suits a Python engineer who values ownership, sound documentation, testing, and practical decision-making.
Highlights
Opportunity to shape a young AI platform, own core backend and security architecture, and work with broad technical autonomy in a fast-growing environment.
Description
Our client is an exciting AI startup company in high growth and they have an immediate need for a Software Engineer – Backend/Platform .
This role will own the services, the isolation model, and the governance posture that the world’s largest brands rely on when they act on their recommendations, with room to help shape a young platform rather than maintain a mature one.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain their Python backend services: the APIs, the query layer that powers the decision surfaces, and the scheduled pipeline that refreshes the data behind them.Strengthen multi-tenant isolation so one brand’s data never touches another’s.Work on authentication, roles, and permissions, and keep the surrounding documentation accurate.Help own encryption for stored credentials and tokens, and our broader secrets and key-management approach.Keep production healthy across deploys, structured logging, request tracing, and incident response.Be an engineering partner for our SOC 2 and ISO 27001 work: audit logging, access controls, and turning controls into code rather than spreadsheets.Keep the data path fast and correct with caching, safe parameterized queries, and reliable refreshes.Help strengthen our delivery foundations across CI, testing, and local development tooling.
Requirements
Solid Python and some experience building backend servicesA security-minded instinct for tenant isolation, least privilege, encryption, and secrets management.Comfort with SQL and relational data modeling, and interest in database-level access control. Some exposure to running things in production across deploys, observability, and debugging real issues, or eagerness to learn it.Comfortable in a small, early-stage team with ownership and ambiguity; you make decisions and write them down. You care about correctness through meaningful tests, clear code, and documentation that stays accurate.
Nice to haves
Exposure to SOC 2 or ISO 27001 readiness from the engineering sideData warehouse or analytics-engineering experience.Auth and RBAC system design experience.OAuth integration work with third-party APIs.Familiarity with cloud platforms and managed data pipelines.Experience within the MarTech space
