Responsibilities
Our newest opportunity is for a talented ICT Engineer - Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), seconded to our client from government sector in Doha, Qatar.
The role will support the Senior ICT Engineer in ensuring the availability, performance, security and resilience of RMC ICT infrastructure, including data centre environments, networks, virtualized platforms, hardware, software and associated systems supporting Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
We envisage success in this role to include;
Monitoring and supporting Road Management Centre (RMC) systems to ensure required performance, availability and service levels.Reviewing and witnessing ITS project commissioning, ensuring RMC hosting, configuration and network infrastructure meet Ashghal specifications and performance requirements.Supporting the Senior ICT Engineer in the investigation, analysis and design of new projects and existing ITS assets, ensuring RMC infrastructure can meet required compute, network, storage and backup needs.Supporting the management and performance monitoring of the RMC ICT and infrastructure maintenance contractor, ensuring availability targets for LAN, hardware and software systems are achieved.Monitoring preventive maintenance activities and ensuring secondary and contingency measures are available and operational for RMC/DR control rooms and data centre equipment.Monitoring the configuration and management of RMC virtualized environments, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and effective monitoring and alerting.Monitoring RMC/DR firewall configurations and hardware change controls, ensuring changes are properly documented in line with ICT best practices.Reviewing plans, specifications and estimates for roadway ITS implementation projects, assessing the suitability of RMC/DR data centre hardware and infrastructure and identifying additional resource requirements.Supporting the resolution of technical issues, including substandard products, and providing technical guidance to project team members.Coordinating with Ashghal ISD to ensure RMC operational technology aligns with IT security requirements and management measures.Supporting studies on hosting options, cloud readiness and optimal ICT architectures for RMC environments.Identifying technology trends and recommending improvements to the efficiency, reliability and performance of RMC and DR data centre environments.Providing technical input into troubleshooting, fault investigation and triage activities and undertaking technical work within the scope of competence.Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and applying these to support professional development.Adhering to Health & Safety policies, procedures and work instructions.
Qualifications
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years’ specialist experience in ICT infrastructure.
partnered with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or a relevant discipline.
Holding Chartered Membership of an engineering or relevant professional body is advantageous.Holding CCNA or equivalent certification related to network hardware, software and telemetry systems.Demonstrating experience in data centre environments, virtualization, network infrastructure and service availability management.Demonstrating experience in monitoring ICT infrastructure, fault management systems and maintenance contractors.Establishing strong working relationships with clients, contractors, stakeholders and project teams and effectively supporting change.Demonstrating the ability to influence and engage stakeholders and staff at all levels.Being proficient in Microsoft Office, network management and fault management systems.Communicating effectively in written and spoken English; Arabic language skills are preferred.
