Senior DevOps Engineer / Platform Automation Engineer - Day Rate Contract
We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Automation Engineer to join our engineering team and play a key role in supporting and evolving our enterprise platforms.
You'll work across infrastructure, applications, and deployment pipelines to improve operational resilience, modernize engineering practices, and drive automation across the software delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and pre-production issues, performing detailed root cause analysis under pressure.Design, build, and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.Develop and maintain automation solutions using Ansible and Python.Build, administer, and enhance Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.Manage and support Linux-based environments while maintaining awareness of Windows infrastructure where required.Collaborate with development, infrastructure, networking, and security teams to ensure reliable application delivery.Support release and deployment management activities across enterprise environments.Troubleshoot issues across applications, middleware, network, infrastructure, and platform layers.Drive automation initiatives that replace manual operational processes and improve efficiency.Implement monitoring and observability solutions to improve platform health and reliability.Mentor colleagues and champion modern engineering practices, helping teams adopt automation and DevOps principles.
Essential Skills & Experience
To be considered, applicants must demonstrate experience in the following areas:
Exceptional troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills in complex, business-critical environments.Strong hands-on experience with:AnsibleTerraform (Infrastructure as Code)Python scriptingExperience administering and developing Jenkins pipelines.Strong Linux system administration skills.Experience using Git, GitHub, or GitLab, including modern branching strategies and version control workflows.
Preferred Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have experience with:
5+ years supporting enterprise applications or platforms.Release and deployment management.Container platforms such as ECS, OpenShift, or Kubernetes.Cloud platforms, preferably AWS (Azure or GCP experience also considered).Enterprise-scale or highly regulated environments.Monitoring and observability platforms.SSL and mTLS certificate management.Supporting critical production or pre-production environments.Delivering automation initiatives that eliminate manual processes.Influencing teams and helping colleagues embrace automation and continuous improvement.Diagnosing issues across application, infrastructure, networking, and platform layers.
Agentic AI (Highly Advantageous)
We are particularly interested in candidates with exposure to emerging AI-enabled engineering practices, including:
Designing and implementing Agentic AI solutions.AI-assisted operational automation.Intelligent workflow orchestration.AI-driven incident management and automated remediation.AI-enabled deployment validation and release control.Applying Generative AI technologies to improve engineering productivity, governance, and operational excellence.
