The Position Reporting to the Team Lead, Software Engineering, the Software Engineer II independently applies their skills and works closely with cross-functional teams to create amazing experiences for our customers. They solve moderately complex problems, deliver quality solutions, and are starting to provide technical guidance and mentorship to more junior team members. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to: • Undertake complete design of moderately complex software applications or components. • Assist in the design of components for larger software systems and specify user and system interfaces. • Create multiple design views addressing stakeholder concerns, functional and non-functional requirements, and security. • Design, code, verify, test, document, amend, and refactor moderately complex programs and scripts. • Apply agreed standards, tools, patterns, and security measures to achieve well-engineered results. • Monitor progress, identify software development issues, and propose practical solutions. • Support the planning, scheduling, and coordination of releases with relevant teams following defined processes. • Participate in testing and quality assurance activities to ensure releases meet standards. • Document and report on release outcomes and communicate findings to stakeholders. • Collaborate in reviews of work with others and assist in the evaluation of options and trade-offs. Requirements & Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent. • 4+ years working in relevant Software Engineering roles. • Familiarity with CI/CD Pipelines and DevOps practices. • The ability to work under general direction, receive specific guidance, use discretion for complex issues, and plan work within deadlines. • The ability to engage with colleagues, collaborate with customers and partners, understand user needs, and fully contribute to team efforts. • The ability to perform diverse and complex tasks, methodically resolve issues, and contribute to creative problem-solving. • Effective communication skills and the ability to apply appropriate methods and digital skills. • A proactive initiative in learning and strict adherence to security, privacy, and ethical practices. • Comprehensive industry knowledge and understanding of the business context. • The capability to effectively apply and impart knowledge, and efficiently absorb new information. Additional Information Office-based working environment; work from our Christchurch office three days per week. Tier 3, after-hours support may be required on occasion.
