Job Role: Senior Python Programmer Location: Ipswich Role Type: Permanent / Hybrid The Rol eWe are looking for a skilled Python Developer to build and maintain automation solutions, backend services, and tooling that support large-scale telecom network operations. You will develop REST APIs, automation scripts, and data-driven applications that enable testing, monitoring, and operational efficiency across 5G and enterprise platforms . Your responsibilitie s:Develop and maintain Python-based automation frameworks and scripts for network testing, data processing, and operational workflowsDesign and build RESTful APIs using Flask/FastAPI to expose services for internal tooling and cross-team integrationCreate and manage web-based dashboards and interfaces using HTML/CSS/JavaScript for reporting and monitoringDesign and interact with SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis) databases for test data, configuration, and results managementBuild and maintain Docker containers for application packaging, deployment, and isolated testing environmentsDevelop and maintain CI/CD pipelines integrating Python automation into Jenkins/GitLab for continuous deliveryWrite and maintain Linux shell scripts and manage application deployments on Linux-based serversIntegrate with telecom network systems and APIs for automated validation, health checks, and service monitoringImplement logging, error handling, and monitoring solutions to ensure reliability of automation servicesCollaborate with QA, network engineering, and DevOps teams to identify automation opportunities and deliver scalable solutio ns Essential Skills & Experie nceStrong proficiency in building REST APIs using Flask or FastAPI with proper authentication, error handling, and documentationHands-on experience with HTML/CSS and templating engines (Jinja2) for building lightweight web interfacesSolid working knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) — schema design, queries, and optimizationProficient in Linux environments — shell scripting (Bash), cron jobs, process management, and server administrationExperience building and deploying applications using Docker containers and Docker ComposeFamiliarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) and version control (Git)Experience with Python libraries for automation — requests, paramiko, subprocess, schedule, pandasStrong understanding of networking fundamentals (HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS, SSH) and API integration patte rns Desirable Sk illsExperience in telecom domain or network automation (4G Core, 5G, SBA)Knowledge of message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) and event-driven architecturesExperience with cloud platforms (Openstack) and infrastructure-as-codeFamiliarity with Pytest, Selenium, or Playwright for test automationKnowledge of Grafana, ELK stack, or Prometheus for monitoringUnderstanding of Agile/Scrum delivery pract ices
