Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions (AGS).
If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.
Role Overview
As a Platform Engineer at Rare, you will build and maintain Azure-based cloud infrastructure that supports game development and live services.
You’ll focus on automating deployments and improving system reliability using modern DevOps practices, while working closely with game teams to enhance performance, security, and cost efficiency.
The role combines hands-on engineering with platform improvement, helping shape the studio’s long-term infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and improve hybrid cloud infrastructure (on-prem + Azure)Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines for infrastructure (CI/CD)Support game teams by designing scalable, reliable infrastructureOptimise systems for security, cost, and performanceKeep infrastructure tools and frameworks up-to-date (patching, security)Identify and implement new cloud-based improvements/innovations
Must-Have Skills
Strong experience managing cloud infrastructure (preferably Azure)Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as CodeBicep or Terraform (at least one required)Experience building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deploymentsUnderstanding of cloud security and best practicesFamiliarity with machine configuration / configuration managementAwareness of Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF)
