We’re ready to help you do it. The Role As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll design and build secure, scalable and high-performing software that powers Australia's critical payments infrastructure. Working across the full software development lifecycle, you'll solve complex engineering challenges, influence technical direction and collaborate with product, architecture and engineering teams to deliver resilient, customer-focused solutions. You'll also champion modern engineering practices, leveraging AI-enabled development tools to improve productivity, code quality and delivery outcomes. Key outcomes the role will own Design, build and maintain secure, scalable and resilient software solutions that support business and customer outcomes.Lead the design and implementation of complex software components, APIs and distributed systems using modern engineering practices.Drive technical excellence through clean architecture, secure coding standards, code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.Optimise software delivery through CI/CD, automation, cloud-native technologies and infrastructure-as-code practices.Leverage AI-powered development tools to accelerate coding, testing, refactoring and documentation while maintaining high engineering standards.Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, Security and Operations teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions.Mentor and support engineers, contributing to a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and engineering excellence.Influence technical decisions, evaluate design trade-offs and help shape the future direction of AP+'s engineering capability. Required Experience To Be Successful In The Role We're looking for an experienced software engineer who combines strong technical capability with a passion for building modern, scalable software and continuously improving the way engineering teams work. You'll bring: 4+ years of experience with software development using one or more modern programming languages, such as Java, TypeScript, C# or Python.Bachelor's degree in either Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Or equivalent practical experience.Demonstrated experience building and delivering complex software solutions in a Senior Software Engineer or similar role.Experience building scalable distributed systems, APIs and cloud-native applications using modern software architecture principles.Deep understanding of secure software engineering practices, including secure coding, and software quality.Strong software design capability, with experience evaluating architectural trade-offs and delivering maintainable, high-quality solutions.Experience working incross-functional engineering teams and partnering effectively with Product, Design and Architecture stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practice.Experience using AI-enabled engineering tools to enhance software development, testing, refactoring and documentation, while maintaining strong engineering discipline and code quality.Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code will be highly regarded.Experience within payments, financial services or other highly regulated environments will be highly regarded but is not essential.
