Summary
We are an AI-native technology company building intelligent solutions for the home services sector. We're hiring a full-stack Product Engineer who combines strong engineering skills with a product mindset. You'll ship code across an AI agent platform and core web application, working with Python, FastAPI, PHP/Laravel, and modern frontend frameworks. We're a small, senior team where your decisions ship directly to production. You'll own outcomes end-to-end: investigate problems, talk to users, analyze data, build solutions, and measure impact. AI coding tools are a core, non-negotiable part of your daily workflow. We offer hybrid work, competitive compensation with equity, and a transparent career framework. We're looking for someone with 3-7 years of experience who thrives in ambiguity, ships fast, and loves to build.
Highlights
Join a small, senior, AI-native team where your decisions ship directly to production. Hybrid work arrangement with competitive salary and meaningful equity. Transparent career progression framework with psychological safety culture. Empowered to solve problems end-to-end rather than just build features. Velocity-focused environment with high engineering standards. Work directly with founders and cross-functional teams.
Description
The opportunity
We are building the AI for home life.
Just Move In helps people set up and run their home.
Our AI agent Jay handles energy, broadband, water, insurance and council tax when someone moves, and we are evolving into a full Home OS for everything that comes after.
Here's the thing: we don't win users through marketing.
We're embedded in the systems that already know someone is moving (letting agents, CRM platforms, deposit schemes, property portals).
That's our distribution moat, and it will deliver 1M UK moves a year by 2028.
The role
We're hiring a full stack Product Engineer
Engineer first: you'll ship real code across Jay and our core platform every week.
But with a product mindset: you get a problem and a metric, not a spec, and you work out the rest.
Talk to users, look at the data, decide what to build, build it, watch what happens.
You think in systems and how to architect for both user experience and scalability.
We're a small, senior, AI-native team.
Your decisions ship.
What you'll do
• Ship product end to end.
Take a problem like "movers drop off between quote and purchase" from investigation through to shipped, measured code, across Jay (Python, FastAPI, pydantic-ai) and our Laravel 11 core.
• Build the agentic product.
Jay is how movers experience us: tool-calling, LLM workflows, evals.
You'll make it smarter and more reliable with every release.
• Own outcomes, not tickets.
Work directly with design, commercial and the founders.
Prototype fast, ship the simplest version, iterate on what the data says.
• Work AI-native.
AI coding agents (we run Claude Code) are a core part of your workflow, and you'll help shape Alan, our in-house AI engineer.
• Keep the quality bar where it matters.
This is code real revenue depends on: tests (Pest, PHPUnit), sensible observability, careful handling of customer data.
Your first 90 days
• Understand the product deeply: where movers come from, where they drop off, what partners need.
• Ship something that measurably moves a number.
Small is fine, shipped is the point.
• Establish your rhythm with design, engineering and commercial.
You're a peer to all three.
You might be right if
• You have 3-7 years of engineering experience with strong backend foundations in PHP/Laravel or Python, and enough range to work across the stack (we run Next.js, Nuxt and Vue on the frontend).
• You've shipped things users touched, and you cared what happened next.
You watched the metric, learned, and iterated.
• You're comfortable in ambiguity.
Given an outcome and a why, you can find the path without a spec or a big team.
• You ship fast.
You'd rather ship something imperfect and learn than debate the perfect solution.
• You're commercially minded.
You understand which work moves revenue and which is just interesting.
• You communicate clearly with engineers, designers and commercial people alike.
• You've been through a scaleup.
You've watched a product and team grow fast, and you kept shipping through the mess.
• You love to build.
Side projects, weekend prototypes, tools you made because you wanted them to exist.
We'll ask to see them.
AI-native is non-negotiable
You already use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor or similar) daily.
Not as an experiment, as your workflow.
You spec with AI, prototype with AI, analyse with AI, and review the output with strong technical judgment.
In your application, tell us how AI has changed the way you build.
Be specific.
Bonus points
• You've shipped production AI, agentic or LLM systems: RAG, agents, tool-calling or evals (pydantic-ai a plus).
• You're comfortable in both Python and PHP.
• You've built partner or API integrations: webhooks, data pipelines, messy third-party data made reliable.
You're probably not right if
• You need a spec and a ticket before you can start.
• You only want to write code.
Talking to users and digging into data feels like someone else's job.
• You optimise for consensus over velocity.
We move fast, disagree openly, and commit fully.
Our stack
Laravel 11 (PHP), Aurora MySQL, Redis, Horizon, Pest and PHPUnit.
Jay runs on Python, FastAPI and pydantic-ai.
Next.js 15, Nuxt 3 and Vue on the frontend.
AWS (London), Datadog, Sentry, GitHub Actions.
Claude Code and Alan, our in-house AI engineer, woven through how we build.
How we work
• Empowered teams: we give you problems to solve, not features to build.
• AI-native: our codebase is designed for agents, and our thinking starts with "what would this look like if AI did it?"
• Velocity obsessed: we bias toward shipping, learning and iterating.
• High standards with psychological safety: direct feedback, blameless incidents, room to take risks.
• A clear, published career framework: you'd join at mid or senior level with a transparent path onward.
The details
• Competitive salary + meaningful equity.
• Hybrid in London.
• You'll work alongside a team who have worked at Uber, Apple, Match Group, Microsoft, Google and Meta.
• Just Move In is a certified B Corp.
We particularly welcome applications from women and underrepresented groups in technology, and we're happy to make adjustments to the interview process.
Interested?
We're not looking for a CV-perfect candidate.
We're looking for someone who reads this and thinks "this is exactly the problem I want to solve."
Apply with your CV and a short note: what excites you about building the AI for home life, how AI has changed the way you work, and what you'd ship first.
Include links to things you've built for fun: side projects tell us more than a CV.
