Infrastructure & Operations Engineer Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid โ€“ 3 Days Onsite) Experience: 5โ€“7 Years Contract: 1-Year About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated IoT Infrastructure & Operations Engineer to join a global technology team responsible for designing, integrating, supporting, and securing enterprise infrastructure and connected device ecosystems. This role is ideal for an infrastructure professional who combines strong networking fundamentals, device lifecycle management expertise, and automation skills with the ability to work across multiple technology domains. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating new technologies, supporting smart-building and IoT platforms, managing device operations, automating processes, and collaborating with vendors, security teams, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable and secure solutions. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring a blend of infrastructure operations, network troubleshooting, systems administration, automation, and vendor engagement. Key Responsibilities Infrastructure & Connected Device Management Design, evaluate, deploy, and support enterprise infrastructure and connected device solutions.Lead Proof of Concept (PoC), technology assessments, and solution validation activities.Support onboarding, integration, and operational management of IoT and smart-building technologies.Ensure reliable operation and connectivity of enterprise devices and associated applications.Partner with vendors and internal technology teams to implement scalable and secure solutions.Networking & Connectivity Troubleshoot end-to-end network communication issues affecting devices, applications, and systems.Analyze connectivity across routers, switches, firewalls, proxies, load balancers, and enterprise network environments.Manage and troubleshoot TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, ports, and subnets.Support device authentication and access management using enterprise identity solutions.Systems Administration & Device Lifecycle Management Administer and support devices and systems across Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, and iOS platforms.Manage the complete lifecycle of enterprise-connected devices, including installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning.Perform firmware updates, software deployments, health monitoring, and issue remediation.Maintain operational documentation, standards, and support procedures.Automation & Operational Excellence Develop automation solutions using Python and other scripting technologies.Automate monitoring, reporting, device management, and operational workflows.Improve operational efficiency through scripting, tool integration, and process optimization.Support data collection, analytics, and automation initiatives across infrastructure environments.Security & Compliance Work closely with cybersecurity and architecture teams to ensure solutions meet enterprise security standards.Participate in vulnerability remediation, patch management, compliance, and technology risk initiatives.Support security reviews and assessments for new technologies and vendor solutions.Implement and maintain security best practices throughout the device and infrastructure lifecycle.Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration Engage with business stakeholders to understand operational requirements and technology needs.Coordinate with vendors for solution deployment, troubleshooting, upgrades, and support.Collaborate with globally distributed infrastructure, security, and operations teams.Provide clear technical communication, project updates, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.Required Qualifications Experience 5โ€“7 years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Engineering, Network Operations, IoT Operations, or a related technology discipline.Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise infrastructure and connected device environments.Technical Skills Networking Strong understanding of:TCP/IPDNSDHCPVLANsRouting & SwitchingFirewallsProxiesNetwork Security FundamentalsIoT & Device Operations Experience supporting connected devices, sensors, smart-building technologies, or operational technology environments.Strong understanding of device deployment, maintenance, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.Operating Systems Hands-on experience supporting: WindowsLinuxmacOSAndroidiOSAutomation Strong Python scripting skills.Experience creating automation solutions for operational and infrastructure tasks.Knowledge of PowerShell, Shell scripting, or similar automation tools is desirable.Identity & Access Management Working knowledge of: Active DirectoryLDAPKerberosSingle Sign-On (SSO)RBACPreferred Qualifications Experience with enterprise vulnerability management tools such as Tenable, Qualys, Nessus, or Rapid7.Exposure to endpoint and patch management platforms such as SCCM, Tanium, or BigFix.Familiarity with Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, or similar security platforms.Experience with ServiceNow or comparable ITSM tools.Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).Understanding of CI/CD concepts and infrastructure automation practices.Industry certifications in Networking, Infrastructure, Cloud, or Security technologies are advantageous.
