As a highly skilled Test Automation Engineer (m/f/d), you will design and optimize modern test automation solutions for system, UI, and API testing.
You will drive test strategies and quality standards, advise development teams, and promote the use of innovative technologies to continuously improve software quality.
The position can also be filled on a part-time basis.
What will you be doing?
You develop and maintain software test automation solutions across different test levels, with a particular focus on system-level testingYou support colleagues and development teams in implementing and evolving automation approaches in alignment with the test pyramidYou contribute to the definition, implementation, and continuous improvement of team-specific test automation strategiesYou design, implement, and maintain automated UI and API tests using frameworks like Playwright, preferably using TypeScript or JavaYou further develop test architectures with a strong focus on maintainability, scalability, reliability, and fast execution timesYou work with non-functional testing approaches and integrate them into existing test strategies.You contribute to the continuous improvement of test execution plans and align them with the needs of individual teamsYou advise and train colleagues on topics related to software testing and test automation.You support the continuous improvement of organization-wide quality practices and contribute to a shift from quality assurance to quality assistanceYou analyze metrics and quality data, create and maintain dashboards as well as monitoring systems to identify improvement opportunities in development and testing processesYou evaluate the use of AI-based approaches in test automation and support their practical adoptionYou monitor technological and methodological developments in software testing and derive improvement initiatives from themYou work with existing software systems and legacy code bases and develop solutions for the challenges associated with them
Who are you?
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in software test automationStrong knowledge of test automation across different test levels, particularly at the system levelExperience in designing and evolving test strategies, automation concepts, and test execution plansExtensive experience in UI test automation using Playwright; familiarity with Cypress or Selenium is a plusGood understanding of test analysis and test designSolid knowledge of test architecture principlesInterest and practical experience in non-functional testing (e.g.
performance, load, security)Strong understanding of high-quality automated tests regarding maintainability, scalability, reliability, and execution speed.Excellent understanding of modern software development processes, including version control (e.g.
Git), build processes, and deployment pipelines (e.g.
GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps)Experience in automated API testing and in working with relevant testing toolsInterest in current developments in software testing, test automation, and AI-supported quality engineeringWillingness to share knowledge across the organization and to support teams in an advisory capacityGood written and spoken English language skills with similar German language skills being an advantage for the role
