Senior Requirements Engineer

Senior Requirements Engineer (Systems Engineer SW) | Secure AUG Engagement | Kiel | Up to 24 months | Up to €115,000 p.a. (negotiable) My client is a leading German technology group delivering high-reliability communication, test & measurement and secure networking solutions for defence and government customers across NATO. They are building out a new requirements engineering function at their Kiel site — a rare greenfield opportunity to shape process and methodology from the ground up. This is a technically deep Senior Requirements / Systems Engineer SW role at the interface of Product Management, Systems Engineering and Software Development. You will translate complex customer problems into precise technical requirements, drive CI/CD and platform-near concepts, and bring stakeholders along within a matrix organisation. THE ROLE • Translate customer requirements from the business context into precise developer language • Capture, validate and document functional requirements; design functional concepts for complex software • Participate in concept reviews; proactively clarify conflicting or missing requirements • Support agile teams with EPICs and Solution Requirements; advance requirements engineering methodology • Re-engineer legacy requirements and build a structured requirements database • Ensure end-to-end traceability and support the derivation of test cases • Interface with Product Managers, Systems Engineers and development teams — actively engaging stakeholders ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS • 6–10 years of experience in software development, requirements management or systems engineering • Degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering or equivalent; Master's preferred • Platform Engineering or DevOps background with strong technical software affinity • CI/CD pipeline experience (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins) • Virtualisation experience (VMware vSphere, XCP-ng, VirtualBox or Hyper-V) • Hands-on container knowledge (Docker, Podman and/or Kubernetes) • German ideally native / C2 AND business-fluent English — both mandatory • EU or NATO nationality — hard requirement THE DETAILS • Location: Kiel, Germany (up to 60% home office) • Salary: Up to €115,000 p.a.
