About The Role We are seeking a talented and experienced Salesforce Developer to join our Product Engineering Team at Sage, based in Winnersh (Reading area), UK. This is a hybrid role requiring three days onsite work per week, offering a dynamic environment where technical expertise meets innovative product development. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Salesforce solutions for Sage People, our flagship HR and people management SaaS platform built on the Salesforce platform. This role is strictly hands-on development, focusing on coding, system architecture, and technical problem-solving rather than administration or bespoke customer configurations. Sage People is a scalable, enterprise-grade SaaS product that serves customers worldwide. As part of our ISV (Independent Software Vendor) team, you will contribute to a single, evolving product with a strong emphasis on code quality, scalability, and long-term architecture. The team culture is collaborative, innovative, and supportive, with a focus on shared ownership, continuous learning, and technical excellence. You will work closely with fellow developers, testers, product managers, and architects in a modern environment utilizing tools such as Git, Jira, IntelliJ, and CI/CD pipelines. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in object-oriented programming, with proven experience in Java or C#. Experience developing solutions on the Salesforce Lightning platform, including Apex, SOQL, and JavaScript, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate hands-on delivery of Salesforce solutions, translating complex business requirements into scalable technical implementations. Salesforce Lightning Web Components (LWC) experience is highly desirable. Certifications such as Salesforce Developer Certification are a plus but not mandatory. Familiarity with modern development practices, including Git, Jira, IntelliJ, and CI/CD pipelines, will be advantageous. The role is suitable for experienced Salesforce developers or backend developers with a solid development background seeking to specialize in Salesforce technologies. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Salesforce solutions for a global SaaS product, ensuring scalability and performance.Work directly with Apex, SOQL, JavaScript, and Lightning Web Components to build robust platform features.Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and solutions that meet user needs.Contribute to technical design discussions, system architecture, and best practices to ensure the integrity and scalability of the platform.Collaborate closely with the Salesforce development team, frontend engineers, testers, product managers, and architects to deliver seamless solutions.Utilize modern development tools such as Git, Jira, IntelliJ, and CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes.Participate in Agile ceremonies, including Scrum and SAFe practices, quarterly planning, and product releases.Contribute to the product roadmap, including the integration of AI-driven features and innovations to enhance platform capabilities.Maintain a focus on code quality, security, and best practices to ensure long-term maintainability. Note: This role requires active hands-on development on the Salesforce platform and is not suited for administrative or configuration-only roles.
