Product Design Engineer Michigan City, Indiana U.S. Citizenship Required | No Visa Sponsorship Available Design Products That Go Into Production, Not Just CAD Models If you enjoy taking a product from concept through production and want to see your designs become real-world manufactured products, this opportunity offers the chance to own projects from initial design through launch. You'll work on the design and development of mechanical systems and components while collaborating with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to deliver reliable, production-ready products. This is a highly visible engineering role where you'll influence product performance, manufacturability, cost, and long-term reliability. What You'll Be Doing Design new mechanical products, systems, and components from concept through production release.Manage engineering projects throughout the complete product development lifecycle.Create and revise 3D models, CAD layouts, assemblies, and engineering drawings using customer specifications and CAD data.Develop innovative product concepts and support continuous product improvements.Troubleshoot prototype, pre-production, production, and warranty issues through engineering analysis and customer collaboration.Conduct engineering calculations and support product validation using:Kinematic analysisElectrical analysisEnvironmental analysisDesign verificationSimulation toolsFEA (Finite Element Analysis)Verify designs for function, manufacturability, quality, and compliance.Prepare engineering cost estimates for new and revised designs.Serve as a technical resource for customers, suppliers, manufacturing, and internal engineering teams.Support new product launches and manufacturing implementation.Develop and maintain engineering documentation, procedures, and design standards.Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, FMVSS regulations, SAE standards, and applicable engineering requirements.
