Senior Telecommunications Engineer Location: Northern Germany Contract Duration: 6 months - with the view to extend up to 18 months Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 5 days per week (minimum 2 days in office) Recruiter: Spencer Ogden About the Role Spencer Ogden is supporting a leading offshore wind organisation in the search for a Senior Telecommunications Engineer. This position sits within the Operations Engineering team and focuses on ensuring the performance, reliability, and cybersecurity compliance of IT/OT networks and telecommunications systems across major offshore wind assets in Continental Europe. You will play a key role in maintaining and developing critical communications infrastructure across offshore windfarms, ensuring systems remain secure, compliant, and fully operational throughout the asset lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Define and implement strategies for IT/OT networks and telecommunications systems across offshore assetsEnsure high system availability, regulatory compliance, and adherence to industry best practicesIdentify technical risks and develop mitigation plans for IT/OT infrastructureLead corrective and preventive maintenance activities, directly or via contractorsPerform root cause analysis on system faults and implement corrective actionsEnsure compliance with cybersecurity and regulatory requirementsCoordinate offshore maintenance activities with site teams, ensuring H&S compliance and quality deliveryShare lessons learned and best practices across offshore hubsSupport new offshore projects with telecoms and IT/OT technical inputAlign maintenance strategies across UK, USA, and Continental Europe hubsPrepare scopes of work and lead supplier technical evaluations during procurement processesManage maintenance contracts, driving cost efficiency and EBITDA optimisationLiaise with OEMs, technical teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies as requiredKey Requirements Essential: 5+ years’ experience in IT/OT networks and communications systemsStrong hands-on experience with Ethernet networks and configuration of Cisco, Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Hirschmann equipmentExperience with structured cabling (fibre optics and Ethernet)Experience defining maintenance strategies, contracting, and scopes of workFamiliarity with OT cybersecurity frameworks (e.g. IEC 62443)Willingness to travel across Europe and internationallyDesirable: Experience with Cisco wireless solutionsIndustrial communication protocols (OPC, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, MODBUS, SNMP)SCADA systems in power generation or distribution environmentsDistributed Control Systems (ABB, Siemens, GE, Schneider) and PLCsOffshore wind sector experience, including turbine systemsSystems administration experience (Windows, Linux, virtualised environments)Certifications Required GWOOffshore MedicalAdditional Information Offshore site work requiredOffice/hybrid working modelWhy Apply?
