A global technology company operating one of the world’s largest C2C marketplace platforms is looking for a Backend Engineer to join the team responsible for its product catalog infrastructure — a core system that supports search, product listings, and recommendation features used by millions of users. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a team of backend engineers to build scalable services, enhance system architecture, and partner with product, data, and platform teams to deliver reliable user-facing functionality. What You’ll Do Develop and maintain scalable backend services that power product catalog systemsDesign and enhance APIs and microservices supporting listing, search, and recommendation capabilitiesWork closely with engineers, product managers, and data teams to build and deliver new platform featuresParticipate in architectural discussions, performance optimization, and reliability improvementsWrite clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while contributing to code reviews and engineering best practicesWhat We’re Looking For 3+ years of experience in backend software engineeringStrong programming ability, or the motivation to quickly learn and work with new languages and technologiesExperience working with distributed systems, APIs, or microservice-based architecturesComfortable collaborating within fast-paced, cross-functional product teamsBusiness-level proficiency in both Japanese and English
