Summary

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join an Enterprise PMO Delivery team located in a major central business district. In this role, you will modernize and enhance mission-critical, web-based enterprise applications and API integrations. This is initially a 12-month fixed-term contract with the intention to convert to a permanent position. Responsibilities include designing REST & SOAP APIs, microservices, writing clean code, automating tests, and modernizing legacy constraints. Requirements include strong hands-on Java and Spring Framework experience, API design knowledge, DevOps familiarity (Git, Maven, preferably AWS), and a solid understanding of relational databases. A degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.

Description

We are seeking an experienced Java developer to join our clients Enterprise PMO Delivery team in Sydney CBD. In this role, you will play a crucial part in modernising and enhancing mission-critical, web-based enterprise applications and API integrations. This is initially a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract, a view to convert to a permanent role down the line. What You'll Be Doing Build & Modernise: Design, develop, and maintain high-performing REST & SOAP APIs, microservices, and SOA-based application integrations.Deliver Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following established coding standards and SDLC methodologies.Automate & Test: Drive quality assurance through unit testing, continuous build/test systems, and automated testing development.Collaborate & Problem-Solve: Work closely with cross-functional teams, participate in project/design walkthroughs, and provide technical input during requirements analysis.Support & Optimise: Provide application support and issue resolution to minimize downtime while actively modernizing legacy technology constraints.What We're Looking For Core Java Expertise: Strong, hands-on experience with Java and the Spring Framework.API & Integration: Deep knowledge of API design (REST/SOAP) and modern integration architectures (microservices/SOA).Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience in DevOps environments, continuous integration/build tools (Maven), version control (Git/GitLab/BitBucket), and cloud environments (preferably AWS).Databases: Solid understanding of relational databases.Methodologies: Comfortable working across both Agile and Waterfall delivery frameworks.Communication: Clear verbal and written skills to articulate complex technical matters to both technical peers and broader stakeholders.Education/Certifications: Degree qualified in IT/Computer Science or equivalent industry experience/certification
