Summary
We are a startup building an AI-powered intelligence platform for the real estate industry. We are seeking a Founding Engineer to lead the development of our core AI and backend systems. You will design and deploy agentic LLM workflows, build scalable backend services, and create customer-facing applications that turn real-world interactions into actionable data. The ideal candidate is highly autonomous, AI-native, and has a proven track record of shipping production-grade ML/LLM features.
Highlights
Offers near-founder equity (1%-2.5%) and a competitive base salary. Provides a unique opportunity to solve complex cross-domain problems and ship AI features that directly impact enterprise operations. High autonomy and ownership from day one.
Description
About Argn
Argn helps real estate owners and operators understand not only what is happening across their assets, but why.
We capture firsthand signals from leasing tours and turn them into a dynamic asset memory that supports evidence-backed decisions across leasing, pricing, marketing, and asset management.
The role
We’re hiring a Founding Engineer to help lead engineering execution through our next stage.
From day one, you’ll own real product: the systems that turn what happens on a tour into intelligence our customers act on—mobile capture, AI insights, customer-facing dashboards, and the infrastructure underneath.
You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the founders and directly with customers to decide what to build, ship it, operate it, and learn from how it is actually used.
This is a deeply hands-on role; you’ll spend most of your time building.
We are an AI-native team and use AI coding agents to move fast, so fluency with them is essential.
What you’ll do
• Design and operate agentic and LLM systems: orchestration, tool use, retrieval, memory, evaluation, and production monitoring
• Build the backend underneath them: services, data models, APIs, asynchronous processing pipelines, and integrations connecting firsthand signals to inventory, CRM, PMS, and leasing outcomes
• Ship customer-facing AI workflows across web and mobile
• Work directly with customers, turning adoption friction into product decisions
• Use AI coding agents throughout planning, building, reviewing, and shipping while remaining accountable for architecture and correctness
• Set pragmatic technical direction, engineering standards, and a roadmap tied to customer usage
What we’re looking for
• Production LLM or ML experience—not only prototypes; you have shipped AI features real customers depend on
• AI-native by default; you already use AI coding agents for meaningful production work
• Deep backend and data ability across API design, data modeling, asynchronous jobs, and external integrations, with enough full-stack range to finish an end-to-end workflow
• 4+ years of professional engineering experience, or equivalent evidence of exceptional end-to-end ownership of production software
• High agency and strong product judgment; you can turn ambiguous customer problems into shipped products without hand-holding
• Sound instincts around reliability, privacy, and sensitive data
• Clear communication about decisions, risks, and tradeoffs
Especially relevant experience
Early-stage or startup engineering; vertical SaaS or workflow software; CRM, PMS, ERP, or other system-of-record integrations; evidence-backed AI, evaluation systems, or human-review workflows; products in regulated or high-trust environments.
What success looks like
• Make our core capture and intelligence workflows meaningfully more dependable
• Ship customer workflows that improve adoption and measurable operating outcomes
• Strengthen the engineering foundation as the team grows
Why join
• A dataset no one else has: firsthand, in-person operating conversations from real estate
• A short path to impact: ship on Monday and watch operators use it in the field on Tuesday
• Genuinely hard cross-domain problems spanning mobile, AI, data, workflow, and enterprise systems
• Near-founder ownership, meaningful equity, and consequential product and architecture decisions from the earliest stage
Location and compensation
San Francisco Bay Area strongly preferred.
Exceptional US-based remote candidates will be considered with regular team and customer travel.$150,000–$195,000 base salary plus 1%–2.5% equity.
How to apply
Please send your résumé or LinkedIn profile and a short note covering a product or system you personally took from ambiguity to production, a production AI feature you made trustworthy beyond the initial demo, and a customer or operational problem that changed what you chose to build.
Links to products, code, or technical writing are welcome but not required.
