We are looking for a System Engineer to provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed software applications. The successful candidate will maintain system services, automate tasks using various scripting languages, and resolve critical technical escalations. Responsibilities include participating in system design, analyzing OS and virtualization metrics, and supporting the cloud operations team as a Tier 2 escalation point. You will need a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, strong network security fundamentals, advanced experience with Linux and Windows environments, and a deep understanding of networking protocols and distributed storage technologies.

Job Description
Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed software applications.
Maintain services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedure.
Deploy applicable server patches and perform system backups.
Scripting in Ansible, Shell, Perl, and Python to automate system.
Ability to handle and resolve critical customer issues/escalations through ticketing system (Freshdesk & Clickup), includingon-call rotations.
Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems (centos, ubuntu, freebsd, windows server) and virtualization technology (OpenStack, Proxmox) Participate in system design consulting, platform management production system through application reviews, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
Identify issues, propose solutions and deliver successful resolutions and use monitoring tools (Zabbix, prtg, cacti, etc.) Support team members throughout the cloud operations team, being a Tier 2 prime escalation point.
Work with ISO27001/2000 process and standards.
Other tasks as assigned by supervisor or management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical major, or commensurate experience.
Strong network security fundamentals with at least 2 years of work experience in related fields.
Advance experience with Linux and Windows (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat, Windows Server).
Familiarity with cloud/virtualization of at least two of the following: Helm, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OpenStack, OpenShift, VMware vSphere.
Advance knowledge with Networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related).
Experience with distributed storage technologies such as NFS, Ceph, S3.
Exposure to one of the following relational databases: MySQL, MariaDB, Percona, MongoDB.
Possess a proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance.
Strong communicator.
Hands-on, self-starter.
