Full-Stack Engineer (Senior) Location: Toronto, ON, Canada (Remote, Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area only) Employment Type: Full-Time Seniority Level: Senior. 7+ years of professional full-stack development experience required. The Role We're looking for a Full-Stack Engineer who takes ownership end-to-end, from system design through deployment. You'll turn real-world operational needs, often from military and government stakeholders, into secure, scalable, reliable software that replaces legacy platforms and modernizes how critical services are delivered. Your code runs in mission-critical environments where quality, security, and performance are non-negotiable. This is a senior role with real influence: you'll collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering to ship features that matter, not tickets that disappear into a backlog. You'll work on products spanning career development, financial wellness, secure records, and the modernization of legacy government systems. Tech Stack Angular, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS · NestJS, Node.js, Apollo GraphQL, REST APIs · PostgreSQL · Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions · OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSO, RBAC · Redis What You'll Own Backend: Architect and develop scalable backend services using NestJS, Node.js, and TypeScriptDesign and maintain GraphQL (Apollo Federation) and REST APIsModel and optimize relational databasesImplement authentication, authorization, and RBAC patternsBuild microservices and event-driven systems using Redis and related toolingCollaborate with DevOps on CI/CD, containerization, and infrastructure decisions Frontend: Build responsive, accessible UIs using Angular (or equivalent frameworks)Translate product and design requirements into maintainable client-side architectureManage complex state using RxJS, Angular Signals, or similar patternsOptimize performance and ensure usability across devices Cross-Functional: Own features from planning through productionCollaborate with designers, product managers, and stakeholdersReview code, mentor engineers, and influence technical directionWrite and maintain documentation for APIs, architecture, and internal toolingImplement and maintain unit and integration tests What We're Looking For Required: 7+ years of professional full-stack development experience3+ years working with NestJS, TypeScript, and GraphQLBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experienceStrong database design and query optimization skills (PostgreSQL preferred)Production experience with Angular, React, or comparable frontend frameworksExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelinesStrong communication skills and comfort working autonomously in a remote environment Bonus: Experience with monorepo architectures (Nx or similar)gRPC, WebSocketsServerless platforms (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions)CQRS, DDD, or event-sourced systemsObservability and performance tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, load testing, rate limiting) Who You Are You take ownership without waiting to be asked, and you're comfortable making the call when the path forward isn't obvious.You communicate clearly with engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike, and you don't let technical decisions get buried in jargon.You care about the mission. Legal entitlement to work in Canada required. TurboVets is currently fully remote in Canada, with a Toronto-area office planned next year. Salary: $140,000–$170,000 CAD, based on experience, plus equity, flexible work policies, and extended health benefits (dental, vision, and more).
