The role
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, delivery and support of complex infrastructure platforms across server, storage, compute, network equipment and Standard Operating Environment deployment.
Working closely with network, cybersecurity, systems engineering, integration and customer teams, you will contribute across the full project lifecycle, from architecture and design through to deployment, validation, testing and operational handover.
You will also support automation, standardisation, continuous improvement and the adoption of modern infrastructure technologies, while helping deliver successful outcomes for a high profile customer engagement.
Key responsibilities
· Design, deliver and support complex server, storage and infrastructure platforms.
· Develop and update architecture diagrams, solution documentation, bills of materials and integration artefacts.
· Configure, validate and deploy infrastructure equipment in factory and customer environments.
· Support product integration, verification and acceptance testing activities.
· Contribute to infrastructure automation, standardisation and continuous improvement.
· Collaborate across network, cybersecurity and systems engineering teams.
· Support bid activity, cost modelling and infrastructure TCO analysis.
· Share best practice through technical documentation, lessons learned and case studies.
About you
· 7+ years of experience designing, delivering and operating complex, mission critical server, storage, infrastructure and network environments.
· Strong experience across Linux or RHEL, Windows Server, server hardening and modern server operating systems.
· Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware, Hyper V, Proxmox or KVM.
· Exposure to container environments such as OpenShift or Kubernetes.
· Infrastructure automation experience, including Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD or scripting.
· Broad infrastructure architecture experience across physical and virtual servers, SAN/NAS storage, data centre deployment and lifecycle management.
· Practical experience integrating and validating hardware components on large, complex software based systems.
· Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
Desirable experience
· Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP.
· Experience in Air Traffic Management or other mission critical environments.
· Postgraduate studies in Systems Engineering.
· Exposure to safety, security and human factors in infrastructure or data centre environments.
