Description

DevOps Engineer | SFIA 5 | 6 Months | SC Cleared | £450/day inside IR35 | Remote A six month DevOps role on a large government data platform. Remote, with roughly one day a month at a digital hub. THE ROLE You would design, deploy and manage secure AWS infrastructure and networking for an enterprise data platform, and own the pipelines and infrastructure as code that keep it moving. The data side is what makes this one different. The platform runs on Hadoop, Spark, EMR, Athena and Redshift, so this is data platform engineering rather than general DevOps. WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING Designing, deploying and managing secure AWS cloud infrastructure and networkingBuilding and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code in Terraform, GitLab CI and GitHubSupporting enterprise data platforms on Hadoop, Spark, EMR, Athena and RedshiftImplementing monitoring, logging, security and compliance controlsDriving automation, containerisation and platform resilience with Kubernetes and Python ESSENTIAL AWSCI/CD deployment pipelines such as GitLab CI and ConcourseTerraformBig data tooling such as Hadoop, Hive and Spark, ideally Amazon EMRStrong LinuxActive SC clearance ADVANTAGEOUS Kubernetes, EKS or other container servicesPython THE STACK AWS across VPC, EC2, EBS, Route 53, WAF, ALB, ELB, Network ACLs, Security Groups, KMS, S3, IAM, Lambda, EMR, Athena and Redshift. Kong for connectivity. Terraform, GitHub, GitLab CI, Python, Tenable and Vault. SonarQube for code and security analysis. Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring, Splunk and Stackdriver for logs. Some Azure across VM, Blob, PaaS and networking. THE DETAILS Rate: £450 per day, inside IR35 Location: Remote, with approximately one day per month at Leeds digital hub Contract: 6 months Start: ASAP Clearance: Active SC required WHY THIS ONE Genuinely remote government work is rare, and one day a month is as close to fully remote as this market gets. It is also a real data platform rather than a set of application servers, so if you have been running EMR and Spark at scale this plays directly to it.
