Description
About the Role
TALENT Software Services is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in UI/UX and front-end engineering for a fully remote opportunity with its client.
This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining accessible, user-centered interfaces for complex enterprise applications built on the ASP.NET MVC 5 technology stack.
You will combine hands-on front-end development with a strong understanding of UI/UX principles to create interfaces that are intuitive, usable, accessible, and reliable.
Working with business stakeholders, customers, designers, and cross-functional technology teams, you will translate requirements into practical solutions while maintaining high engineering standards and meeting established delivery timelines.
The role also includes preparing technical design specifications, performing unit testing, and maintaining clear technical and design documentation.
The ideal candidate is a senior-level engineer who can work independently within established enterprise applications and contribute across the front-end and full-stack development process.
Strong experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC 5, SQL Server, accessibility standards, and Windows-based environments is important, along with the ability to deliver well-tested, production-ready solutions with minimal ramp-up time.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain accessible, user-focused interfaces for enterprise applications using the ASP.NET MVC 5 technology stack.
• Build clean, semantic, maintainable front-end code using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Apply UI/UX principles, including information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, and usability best practices, to improve the user experience.
• Implement and test web accessibility requirements in line with WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA and Section 508 standards.
• Use semantic HTML, ARIA roles and attributes, keyboard navigation, and focus management to support accessible interactions.
• Test interfaces with assistive technologies, including screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.
• Develop and support full-stack .NET applications using C# and ASP.NET MVC 5 in a Windows environment.
• Work with Microsoft SQL Server to support UI functionality through database design, data modeling, T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate front-end interfaces with internal and external systems.
• Prepare technical design specifications and maintain accurate technical and design documentation.
• Perform unit testing and collaborate with QA teams on usability testing, defect resolution, and release activities.
• Analyze requirements, troubleshoot complex UI and cross-browser issues, and deliver reliable solutions that meet business and user needs.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, customers, designers, and technology teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
• 5–8+ years of professional software development experience, with significant experience in front-end and UI development.
• Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Practical experience applying UI/UX design principles to real-world product interfaces.
• Hands-on experience implementing and testing accessibility features against WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA and Section 508 requirements.
• Knowledge of ARIA, semantic HTML, keyboard accessibility, focus management, and assistive technology testing.
• Strong proficiency in C# and the ASP.NET MVC 5 framework.
• Experience developing and supporting full-stack .NET applications in a Windows environment.
• Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including data modeling and writing T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and core computer science principles.
• Experience integrating front-end applications with RESTful APIs and other systems.
• Experience with unit testing, QA support, usability testing, and software releases.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and established engineering practices.
• Ability to work independently, analyze requirements, debug complex issues, and deliver polished, reliable solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with DevExpress UI components and reporting tools.
• Formal training or certification in UX design, accessibility, or human-centered design, including IAAP CPACC or WAS.
• Experience supporting usability testing, accessibility audits, or design reviews.
• Familiarity with Figma, Adobe XD, or similar design and prototyping tools, with the ability to translate designs into accessible front-end code.
• Experience working with financial aid systems, student systems, or higher education data.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience maintaining or modernizing legacy .NET applications, particularly front-end components.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and source control systems such as Git.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to advocate for usability and accessibility with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
