About Silo: Silo Markets is building a new kind of brokerage: one that rewards people for building wealth instead of constantly trading it away. Our platform allows customers to earn rewards points on their investment portfolios, including stocks and ETFs, without requiring them to spend money or use a credit card. Those points can then be redeemed for travel and other rewards. We're growing fast and are backed by leading venture capital firms, including Verdict Capital and Maveron. We're a small, ambitious team building a financial platform that we believe can fundamentally change how people think about investing. About the Role: We're looking for a talented Backend Engineer to join as our second engineering hire. You'll work directly with the founders and take significant ownership over our core platform, from the brokerage integrations and transaction systems to the services and APIs that power the experiences our customers interact with every day. This isn't a role where you'll spend months working on one small piece of a much larger system. You'll have the opportunity to design, build, ship, and maintain meaningful systems from end to end. We're looking for someone who moves quickly, thinks independently, takes pride in their work, and is comfortable navigating the ambiguity that comes with building an early-stage company. What You'll Do: Product Development: Build and ship features across our services, APIs, and tools. Own projects from initial design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.Backend Engineering: Design and develop reliable, scalable backend services and APIs. Work on systems that power investment accounts, portfolio data, brokerage integrations, and our rewards infrastructure.Financial Systems & Integrations: Work with brokerage and third-party APIs, financial data pipelines, and transaction processing systems. Build infrastructure where accuracy, security, and reliability are critical.Infrastructure & Scalability: Help improve our architecture, monitoring, deployments, and overall system performance as we grow.Technical Ownership: Participate in architectural decisions, identify opportunities to improve existing systems, and help establish engineering practices as our team expands. What We're Looking For: 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably building and maintaining production backend systems.Strong experience building backend services and APIs in a language such as TypeScript (Node.js) or Go.Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL, and backend system design.Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, API integrations, and modern deployment workflows.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently take projects from concept to production.An ownership mentality and a willingness to work across different parts of the backend.High attention to detail, particularly when building systems that handle sensitive financial information. Nice to Have: Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS, Docker, or GraphQL.Experience with distributed systems, asynchronous processing, or event-driven architectures.Previous experience in fintech, big tech, brokerage, financial services, or distributed systems.Experience integrating with third-party APIs and working with complex financial data.Experience at an early-stage startup or building products from scratch.
