About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced QA Consultant with strong Java expertise to support major project initiatives as part of a multi-year technology modernization program. This role focuses on quality engineering, test automation framework development, API testing, and database validation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, maintaining, and using test automation frameworks, along with hands-on knowledge of Java, Playwright, and REST API testing. Experience working in financial services and Agile teams is also required. This is a remote, long-term contract opportunity expected to last 12 months or longer. Candidates must be located in the Eastern or Central time zone and able to work Eastern time zone hours. Key Responsibilities •Design, develop, maintain, and use test automation frameworks to support project testing needs. •Create and maintain clean, reusable, data-driven automated tests using Java and Playwright. •Test REST APIs using Java and Playwright’s APIRequestContext. •Implement and maintain BDD test scenarios using Cucumber, including Gherkin, step definitions, and hooks. •Design reusable service objects and page objects to support maintainable test automation. •Validate JSON data through parsing and schema validation. •Perform SQL queries and database testing to verify data accuracy and application behavior. •Use Git and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI to support automated testing workflows. •Apply test automation best practices throughout the software quality engineering process. •Collaborate with Agile teams and communicate testing progress, issues, and results effectively. Required Qualifications •At least 8 years of experience in Quality Engineering, including significant experience designing, maintaining, and using test automation frameworks. •Strong proficiency in Java. •Hands-on experience with Playwright. •Experience testing REST APIs using Java. •Experience with Playwright’s APIRequestContext. •Understanding of Cucumber BDD, including Gherkin, step definitions, and hooks. •Experience designing reusable service objects and page objects. •Familiarity with JSON parsing and schema validation. •Experience with Git and CI tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI. •Understanding of test automation best practices and data-driven testing. •Experience with SQL and database testing. •Strong communication skills and experience working in Agile teams. •Experience in the financial industry. Preferred Qualifications •Performance testing experience. •Experience supporting legacy-to-modern application migrations. •Experience developing test automation using IBM Rational Functional Tester (RFT). Contract Details •Employment Type: Long-term contract, 12+ months. •Work Arrangement: Remote. •Time Zone Requirement: Must be located in the EST or CST time zone and available to work EST hours.
