About the Role Fractal is seeking a Data Engineering - DevOps professional to support enterprise digital operations and cloud-based data platforms. This role combines data engineering, operational support, cloud platform management, and DevOps automation to help maintain reliable data pipelines and application environments. You’ll develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows, support data ingestion and transformation, monitor platform performance, and help automate deployment processes. The position also involves working with Microsoft Azure data services, CI/CD tools, SQL, and Python or PySpark. You’ll collaborate with engineering, analytics, infrastructure, and operations teams to resolve issues, improve reliability, and support ongoing platform development. This is a remote position. The role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship at this time. Key Responsibilities •Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for enterprise data platforms. •Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows across cloud and enterprise systems. •Work with structured and unstructured data, developing SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models. •Support analytics and reporting initiatives by maintaining reliable data availability. •Monitor data pipelines, investigate failures and performance bottlenecks, and resolve operational issues. •Support day-to-day digital platform operations, focusing on stability, reliability, and service availability. •Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes, including root cause analysis and issue resolution. •Work with support, infrastructure, and engineering teams to maintain platform availability and operational efficiency. •Support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, code integration, release management, and environment configuration. •Automate operational and deployment tasks to improve consistency and reliability. •Contribute to Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and configuration management initiatives. •Use Git-based repositories and support version control and branching strategies. •Support Azure-based data engineering solutions involving Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Azure SQL or Synapse services. •Assist with cloud resource optimization, scalability, and security practices. •Collaborate with architecture teams on platform improvements and modernization initiatives. •Work with engineering, analytics, business, and operations teams throughout delivery. •Participate in Agile/Scrum processes and operational reviews. •Document technical processes, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks. •Contribute to continuous improvement and automation initiatives. Required Qualifications •Strong understanding of data engineering concepts and ETL/ELT frameworks. •Hands-on experience with SQL and database technologies. •Exposure to Azure data engineering services, including Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Azure SQL or Synapse. •Knowledge of Python or PySpark for data processing and automation. •Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Git. •Understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure. •Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and operational support processes. •Basic understanding of APIs, scripting, and automation. Preferred Qualifications •Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. •Experience with data quality validation and monitoring frameworks. •Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or ARM templates. •Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies. •Understanding of cloud security and governance practices. Salary & Benefits •Estimated Salary Range: $100,000–$120,000. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for geographic pay differences. Actual compensation depends on factors such as skills, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and business needs. Employees are not typically hired at or near the top of the range. •A discretionary bonus may be available for the applicable performance period. •Eligible full-time employees and hourly employees working more than 30 hours per week may participate in health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans, subject to plan terms. Benefits begin on the first day of employment. •Eligible employees may participate in the company’s 401(k) plan after 30 days of employment, subject to applicable plan terms. •The company provides 11 paid holidays, 12 weeks of parental leave, and a free-time paid time off policy that allows employees to take time for vacation or illness.
