Description

A healthcare-focused organization is seeking a contract Full Stack Engineer to support a core identity and database platform for healthcare professionals, along with a companion desktop application used by an internal data operations team. This is a maintenance-and-enhancement role supporting an established, business-critical legacy system rather than a greenfield build or a role centered on a modern React/FastAPI/PostgreSQL stack. The engineer will own changes end-to-end within the existing environment, which includes Classic ASP, ASP.NET (VB.NET/C#), Oracle PL/SQL, and related desktop and caching layers. Success in this role requires hands-on experience with this specific legacy stack; general modern full-stack experience alone is not sufficient. About the Platforms The primary platform is a customer-facing and internal web application built on top of a large Oracle database containing tens of millions of healthcare professional records that serve as a core system of record for products and clients. The companion application is a WPF desktop tool used by internal operations staff to validate professional license data before it is published to the main platform. While this desktop application is expected to be retired eventually, it remains in active daily use and requires dependable ongoing support until that transition occurs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design, build, and support features end-to-end, from UI layers built in Classic ASP, ASP.NET Web Forms/MVC, jQuery, and Bootstrap through the Oracle PL/SQL data layer.Read, write, and troubleshoot Oracle PL/SQL, including stored procedures, packages, triggers, and views.Provide maintenance and enhancement support for a WPF desktop application.Diagnose and resolve production issues across the full stack, including database changes managed under change control.Follow established coding, schema design, and database unit testing standards for all database changes, and deliver reviewed, issue-specific deployment scripts.Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions with the product team.Use AI-assisted development tools where helpful to accelerate work in legacy codebases; this is encouraged but not required. Required Qualifications Candidates should have verified, hands-on production experience in the following areas: Classic ASP and ASP.NET across frontend and middle-tier developmentVB.NET and VBScriptJavaScript and jQueryOracle PL/SQL, including the ability to read, write, and troubleshoot stored procedures and queriesRedis or a comparable in-memory caching technologyFull-stack ownership of features across UI, business logic, and database layersPreferred Qualifications Experience using AI-assisted development tools to navigate and work more efficiently in legacy codebasesExposure to WPF desktop application developmentExposure to modern technologies such as React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, microservices, RabbitMQ, or KafkaEducation and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Candidates should have several years of verifiable, hands-on production experience in the required technology stack.
