About The Role We are seeking an experienced Automation / DevOps Engineer to join our team for a long-term contracting opportunity supporting a significant modernization initiative involving IBM Z mainframe systems. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing scalable, production-ready automation solutions that enhance continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, ensure compliance, improve monitoring and observability, and enable secure orchestration across a complex global technology estate. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in automation engineering, with hands-on experience in a variety of tools and technologies relevant to DevOps practices. Qualifications Proven experience as an Automation Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role within enterprise environments.Strong proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python.Experience with database management, particularly PostgreSQL.Hands-on experience with version control systems like Git.Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.Knowledge of configuration management and automation tools including Ansible.Understanding of secrets management and artefact management platforms.Experience with observability and monitoring platforms.Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.Previous experience supporting mainframe modernization projects is a plus. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation solutions that support the organization’s CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.Implement and manage compliance automation to ensure adherence to industry standards and security policies.Enhance system monitoring and observability to provide real-time insights into system performance and health.Develop secure orchestration workflows across distributed and mainframe environments.Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to streamline processes and improve overall system reliability.Maintain and improve existing automation scripts and tools, ensuring they meet operational requirements.Participate in code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality deliverables.Stay updated with the latest DevOps trends and incorporate best practices into the organization’s automation strategies.Support the modernization efforts of IBM Z mainframe systems by integrating automation solutions.
