Role Description The Senior Geotechnical Engineer is a full-time position based in Melbourne.
In this role, the engineer will plan, scope, and oversee site and ground investigations, interpret geotechnical and geological data, and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
Day-to-day responsibilities include designing foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, slope stabilization measures, and ground improvement schemes for a variety of civil and infrastructure projects.
The engineer will review designs, provide technical input to multidisciplinary teams, support project planning and delivery, and liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
The role also involves mentoring junior team members, contributing to quality assurance processes, and supporting business development through technical proposals and presentations.
Qualifications
Strong geotechnical engineering expertise, including Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Geology skills.Experience in planning and executing Site Investigation programs, with sound understanding of Soil behavior and characterization.Proficiency in Foundation Design for buildings and infrastructure, including shallow and deep foundation systems.Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline; postgraduate qualifications in geotechnical or engineering geology are advantageous.Demonstrated experience in geotechnical design for transportation, buildings, or infrastructure projects, ideally within the Australian context.Ability to use relevant geotechnical software and analytical tools (such as Plaxis, Geostudio suite etc), and to prepare clear technical reports and design documentation.Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients and contractors.Capacity to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
