Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Scientist or Engineering Professional as part of our contaminated site assessment, brownfield redevelopment, environmental due diligence, compliance, approvals, and remediation practice in our Ottawa, ON, Kingston, ON, or Toronto, ON office.
The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to environmental site assessments, contaminated site investigations, brownfield redevelopment projects, excess soils management programs, environmental approvals, redevelopment projects, and remediation activities while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Fieldwork such as soil, sediment, surface water and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, environmental inspections; and support of site investigation and remediation activities; Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation; Groundwater monitoring, well installation oversight, and environmental site investigations; Groundwater and soil remedy and/or vapour intrusion mitigation system evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation; Support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting; Support brownfield redevelopment projects, environmental approvals, excess soils management programs, and environmental risk assessments; Understanding of the Ontario environmental regulatory framework; Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, borehole logs, and figures; Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Training: This position requires Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) hazardous waste operations and emergency response, first aid, and CPR training paid by the firm.
Medical monitoring is also provided.

Education and Licensure
Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental or earth science, environmental, geological civil, or chemical engineering, or related.
(required) Advanced degree in above.
(preferred) Eligibility for professional registration (P.Eng.
or P.Geo.) in Ontario with future experience.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific data and technical publications, journals, procedures, government regulations, design drawing specifications and/or project related reports.
(required) Ability to effectively present information in oral and written format and respond to questions from project managers, project team members, and clients.
(required) Ability to write routine reports and correspondence that are clear, well organized, and grammatically correct.
(required) Ability to apply methods, procedures, practices, and processes derived from academic training to solve technical problems related to environmental site assessment, due diligence, risk assessment, remediation, and vapour intrusion.
(required) Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
(required) Prior research experience in contaminated media or remediation technology.
(preferred) Prior internship experience or other experience (1 to 2 years) in environmental consulting.
(preferred) Experience supporting Phase I and/or Phase II ESAs, environmental due diligence, site investigations, or brownfield redevelopment projects.
(preferred) Familiarity with environmental approvals, compliance programs, excess soils management, environmental permitting, and redevelopment projects.
(preferred) Experience conducting site inspections, contractor oversight, field investigations, or construction-related environmental support.
(preferred) Ability to complete regular field work and overnight travel within Canada.
(required) Ability to complete Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven background testing as needed.
(required) Valid Canadian driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
(required) Willingness and ability to work outside Canada.

Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below.
The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees.
Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
Minimum Salary: $57,000 / Maximum Salary: $69,000 (Ottawa, ON, Kingston, ON, Toronto, ON)
