The Role As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you are a subject matter expert within the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) sub-team, which is responsible for the uptime, performance and stability of production services, and the CI/CD and GitOps pipelines that deliver them. You will drive technical decisions, own complex systems and set the quality standards for the sub-team. C - Customer Development and product teams: ensure stable runtime platforms; confirm and maintain fast and safe deployment pipelines for their services.Sub-Team Supervisor and Head of DevOps: take responsibility for sound technical decisions, accurate risk assessment and reliable delivery of complex initiatives.DevOps engineers: set and uphold clear standards, undertake high-quality reviews and provide mentorship.Security, Risk and Compliance: secure designs and timely compliance evidence for owned systems. A - Accountability Own complex and critical systems within the sub-team's scope, including their reliability, security and lifecycle.Lead technical scoping, design and risk assessment for complex initiatives.Set and uphold quality standards for the sub-team through reviews, patterns and documentation.Maintain a technical-debt and upgrade roadmap for owned systems.Act as escalation point during incidents; ensure postmortem actions are completed.Own compliance evidence for systems in scope. R - Responsibility Own the reliability of critical production services: SLO and SLI definition, error-budget policy, capacity planning and performance tuning.Design reusable platform patterns adopted across DevOps: Helm chart libraries, pipeline templates and ArgoCD application patterns.Own the observability architecture (Prometheus, Thanos, Alertmanager, Jaeger, Graylog), including retention, scaling and alert quality.Lead technical scoping and risk assessment for reliability-impacting changes.Act as escalation point and incident lead, and drive postmortem actions to closure.Plan and run resilience testing: failover, load and recovery exercises.Review high-risk changes and designs; assist on defining patterns built from others.Participate in the primary on-call rota and act as escalation point for the sub-team.Contribute to hiring and onboarding standards for the sub-team. E - Engagement Influence technical direction beyond the sub-team through design reviews and best-practice proposals.Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, and support their progression.Partner with development, security and architecture stakeholders on cross-functional initiatives.Lead postmortem reviews and share lessons learned across teams.Represent the sub-team in technical discussions. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering. Core Competencies: Technical Capability Expert Kubernetes knowledge: scheduling, networking, storage, security and multi-cluster operations.SLO and SLI design, error budgets and capacity planning.Observability at scale: Thanos, federation, retention and cardinality management.High-availability and disaster-recovery design patterns.Secure software supply chain in CI/CD: artifact signing, image scanning and policy enforcement. Engineering Practice Sets and monitors engineering standards and quality gates for the sub-team.Designs complex systems with explicit trade-offs, risks and rollback strategies.Balances delivery speed with stability, security and maintainability.
