As a Senior Software Engineer I - Backend, you will liaise with the other backend engineers within your product stream, the QA team, the design team and your Tech Team Leads. As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for advancing our development stack and ensuring scale as we grow to millions of monthly active users across many countries. In This Role, You Will Hit the ground running - Gather an up-to-date, in-depth understanding of the dubizzle codebase and technology stack within weeksLead planning sessions around new product features and deliver detailed roll-out/roll-back strategies for releasesResearch and apply industry trends as part of your daily workCreate unit tests in accordance with our established standards to cover assigned workWrite and maintain exemplary code following dubizzle's programming practicesActively contribute to post-release maintenance issuesBuild complex problems and deliver practical, high-impact solutions.Pioneer reliability and efficiency of our current code base, platforms and/or core systemsImpact on the direction and scope of dubizzle's technical vision within your streamWork in a mentoring capacity within a peer-programming environment and guide tasks, irrespective of complexity or scaleCode-review all major pull requests, define programming standards, and provide constructive feedbackDesign and delivery of multiple REST-based APIs and previous exposure to Service Oriented ArchitectureCapacity to push back requirements when incompleteHandle the entire software development life cycle end-to-endLead product planning meetings and architect solutions within your streamLiaise with the other back-end engineers within your product stream, the QA team, the design team and your Tech Team LeadLiaise with other tech teams to share innovations from your stream Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering preferred6+ years of professional back-end software engineering experience in Python (Django)Experience with cloud-hosted infrastructure and Technologies; AWS preferredPrior experience with Kubernetes & Docker will earn you brownie pointsExperience working on high-traffic and large-scale web products is preferredExperience with web infrastructure, SOA, distributed systems, performance analysis, and search infrastructureStrong understanding of design patterns including asynchronous programming, queuing, logging, security and persistenceMastery of different caching layers and strategies, including memcachedGood understanding of build process management and continuous integrationMastery of testing methodologies (unit tests, component tests, integration tests, etc.)Ability to handle the entire software development life cycle end-to-endExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to prioritise tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environmentDriven to gain insight into different new and old technologiesAnalytical thinking, conceptual thinking, detail-oriented Benefits A fast paced, high performing teamMulticultural environment with over 60 different nationalitiesCompetitive Tax-free SalaryComprehensive Health InsuranceAnnual Air Ticket AllowanceEmployee discounts at multiple vendors across the emiratesRewards & RecognitionsLearning & Development Bayut & dubizzle is an equal opportunity employer.
