A specialized media technology engineering company is seeking an R&D Engineer focused on Embedded Linux and networking. You will advance a transport scheduler from a tested reference implementation toward production hardware, building reliable data transfer across Ethernet, cellular, and satellite links. Applicants must be based in the country or be eligible to relocate as an EU/EEA citizen; work permit sponsorship is unavailable.
Highlights
Take ownership of technically challenging embedded systems running on real hardware. Develop robust networking and transport scheduling capabilities across multiple connection types, with a strong focus on verified data delivery, reliability, and practical engineering outcomes in a specialized media technology environment.
Description
Our appliance has four network routes and one job: get every frame to the post house, verified, whatever the location throws at it.
We need an engineer to make that real on hardware.
Based in Cyprus, or EU/EEA citizen able to relocate to Limassol.
We can't sponsor work permits for this role.
About MVRK Systems
MVRK Systems is an engineering company in Limassol, Cyprus, building verified-custody tools for film and broadcast.
DailiesDrop, our edge appliance, offloads camera cards on set, writes two verified copies and delivers the original camera files to the post house over Ethernet, cellular and satellite at the same time.
ShuttleCheck, our conformance software, checks every file when it lands.
We are showing DailiesDrop at ISE 2027 in Barcelona this February.
What we believe: the right system doesn't replace your team.
It makes five people move like twenty.
The role
Twelve months from now you will have taken our transport scheduler from a tested reference implementation to field-proven on real units, built the Linux image that ships on every DailiesDrop, and helped carry the product through CE marking and the EU Cyber Resilience Act.
You will work directly with the founder and our data specialist, with your hands on the hardware.
What you'll do
Build and maintain the appliance OS: a Debian-based image with signed updates, secure boot and device identity held in a secure element.
Implement and measure multi-route transport across Ethernet, two cellular modems and satellite: chunked, encrypted, with failover.
Find the real limits of card offload and dual writes on NVMe and USB4, and prove the numbers on the bench.
Integrate 5G modems, card readers and status LEDs, and write the services that tie them together.
Contribute to the scheduler and the custody ledger with the rest of the R&D team.
Produce what certification needs: SBOM, vulnerability handling process and test evidence.
What you'll need
3+ years building software that runs in production on Linux devices or servers (embedded, networking or infrastructure).
Professional experience in at least one of Rust, Go, C or C++, and comfortable in Python.
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, NAT traversal and TLS.
Experience profiling disk or network throughput and fixing what you found.
Mandatory: fluent written and spoken English.
All work, documentation and customer contact is in English.
Able to work from our Limassol bench at least three days a week.
Nice to have
Cellular modems in Linux (ModemManager, QMI or MBIM, AT commands).
Multipath transport (MPTCP, QUIC) or bonded links.
Image building (Debian, Yocto or Buildroot), secure boot, TPM or secure elements.
Media workflows, camera formats or checksum tooling (xxHash, SHA-256, ASC MHL).
EU compliance work for connected products (RED, EN 18031, Cyber Resilience Act).
Pay
Highly competitive salary, depending on experience.
Hardware, test equipment and travel to shows are paid by MVRK.
