We’re on the lookout for a passionate Junior Cloud Operations Engineer to join our innovative team in Reading! This is your chance to dive into the world of cloud infrastructure, with a focus on AWS and Azure platforms, and kickstart your career in cloud operations.
In this role, you'll collaborate closely with senior engineers and industry experts, gaining hands on experience with cutting edge cloud technologies.
You’ll be at the forefront of automating deployments, monitoring mission-critical services, tackling incidents head-on, and implementing best practices that minimize downtime and elevate the end-user experience.
This position is designed to fuel your hands-on growth, giving you the chance to master cloud architectures, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines, observability tools, and incident management processes — all while working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment we will assign you an onsite mentor to help with your technical learning and growth!
A Day In Your Role
Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams (DevOps, Software Engineering, QA) to build and maintain rock-solid cloud systems Get hands-on with automating deployments, monitoring critical services, and solving real problems Learn to configure and optimise cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure Build automated CI/CD pipelines and contribute to shaping best practices Take part in on-call rotation (with full training) — gain real incident management experience Set up observability tools and help detect and resolve issues fast Document processes and share knowledge with your team, contributing to a culture of knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
Your Skills, Experience And More
A passion for learning new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Great communication skills with the ability to clearly convey ideas and listen effectively.
Curiosity about cloud technologies and how systems work.
Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud services (EC2, S3, Azure VMs, Azure Storage, etc.) is a bonus, but not required.
A solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing) and system administration (Linux/Windows).
Some scripting or programming languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
