Description

Spire’s Weather & Climate Division: Spire Global collects weather and Earth-observation data through its satellite constellation. Our Weather division combines proprietary observations with AI and numerical weather forecasts to build operational platforms for aviation, utilities, and other industries. These platforms help customers track assets, understand weather exposure, and act on forecasts and alerts. The Role: We’re looking for a strong front-end engineer who uses frontier AI models and development tools to ship reliable customer products fast. You’ll build applications that connect weather conditions to customer assets, locations, and routes—supporting monitoring, alert configuration, and operational decisions. You’re proactive, resourceful, and eager to adopt new tools. You understand front-end engineering deeply enough to evaluate AI-generated code, troubleshoot problems, and own delivery from prototype through production. Your experience goes beyond map viewers to applications with substantial workflows, complex state, and real operational use. Responsibilities: Build weather platforms that combine asset tracking, interactive maps, time-series views, and operational dashboards.Develop workflows for managing assets and routes, assessing weather exposure, configuring alert thresholds, and reviewing and acting on alerts.Make complex, changing data clear and actionable, including forecast uncertainty, data freshness, and alert severity.Use tools such as Claude Code and Codex to accelerate development, debugging, and testing while maintaining code quality.Ship and operate production frontends, including deployment pipelines, error monitoring, performance improvements, and fixes.Build reusable components and test critical workflows, accessibility, browser compatibility, and failure states.Collaborate with product, design, scientists, and API engineers; turn ambiguous requirements into small, shippable increments. Preferred Skills/Qualifications: 5+ years building production software, with a strong front-end track record.Strong TypeScript/JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS skills, plus sound knowledge of browser behavior, state management, API integration, and performance.Experience building workflow-rich applications with capabilities such as asset management, monitoring, configurable alerts, or operational decision support.Demonstrated fluency with frontier AI models and agentic coding tools. Show us what you shipped, how AI helped, and how you validated it.Experience taking frontends into production and supporting them through CI/CD, monitoring, and troubleshooting.Strong UX judgment for data-rich interfaces, including keeping maps, tables, charts, and detail views consistent as data updates.Experience with automated front-end testing and hands-on QA.A bias toward action: move quickly, seek feedback early, and follow through until the product works reliably. Desired Skills/Qualifications: Weather, geospatial, aviation, or utility industry experience.Interactive mapping and visualization experience with tools such as MapLibre, Mapbox, or deck.gl.Experience with live asset tracking, geofencing, route visualization, or alert management.Familiarity with forecast data, uncertainty, geographic coordinates, and large spatial or time-series datasets.QA or test automation experience with Playwright or Cypress.A portfolio of useful, deployed products built with AI-assisted workflows.
