Your innovative mindset is key to creating solutions to complex problems.
Our systems drive our organisational success and underpin every journey our customers take.
This is your opportunity to be part of an expert team who build and refine seamless technology experiences.
In this role, you'll:
As an Associate Software Developer in Core Platforms, you’ll help design, build, test and maintain customer-facing websites and web applications that support transport services across NSW.
Working as part of an agile software development team, you’ll be hands-on with code, developing new features and improving existing applications using modern web technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript and React, as well as contributing to mobile development using technologies such as React Native.
You’ll also integrate applications with APIs and backend services to deliver end-to-end customer experiences.
You’ll be involved throughout the software development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and contributing to technical solutions through to development, automated testing, code review and release.
You’ll help investigate and resolve defects, support applications once they are in production and contribute to continually improving the quality, performance and maintainability of our software.
You’ll work alongside experienced developers and technical leads who will support you in developing your skills across web development, mobile development, API integration and modern software engineering practices.
This is an opportunity to develop your software engineering career while working on real, customer-facing digital services used across NSW.

About You
You’re an early-career software developer with a strong foundation in programming and a genuine interest in web and application development.
You enjoy building user-facing software, solving technical problems and understanding how the different parts of an application work together.
You may already have experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript and frameworks such as React, gained through professional experience, study or personal projects.
Experience with React Native, APIs, automated testing or other modern development technologies would also be valuable, but we’re equally interested in your ability to learn and apply good software development practices.
You’re comfortable writing and debugging code, working collaboratively with other developers and learning your way around an existing codebase.
You’re open to feedback through code reviews, willing to ask questions when something isn’t clear and take ownership of the quality of the software you contribute.
Most importantly, you’re curious, keen to learn and want to develop your skills by building software that has a real impact for customers.
