Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Engineer/ Architect (.NET) - Industrial based in United Kingdom. As a hands-on Lead Engineer and Architect, you will spearhead software architecture and technical execution for an enterprise-grade IoT asset tracking platform serving global industrial leaders across chemical, automotive, and energy sectors. Operating in an AI-first, fully remote environment, you will balance active coding with team leadership, system design, and process optimization. You will architect concurrent, fault-tolerant distributed systems using C# and .NET, oversee data modeling, and champion modern engineering practices like TDD and CI/CD. Beyond hands-on development, you will mentor a distributed team of engineers, drive internal AI tool adoption (such as GitHub Copilot), and collaborate with product teams to scale cloud infrastructure. This role offers an incredible blend of technical depth, leadership scope, and direct commercial impact across global supply chains. Accountabilities Design, architect, and write production code for core platform features, defining system boundaries, data models, API contracts, and concurrency mechanisms. Lead a distributed agile team, running sprints, unblocking developers, setting goals, and conducting regular 1:1 mentorship, code reviews, and pair programming sessions. Drive engineering excellence across the development lifecycle by championing test-driven development (TDD), CI/CD pipelines, observability, and security-by-design standards. Champion AI integration by embedding AI coding assistants into engineering workflows and identifying opportunities to integrate AI/ML features into the IoT platform. Resolve complex performance bottlenecks, architectural challenges, and cross-cutting system issues to support high-scale enterprise deployments. Partner with Product, Operations, and executive leadership to refine technology roadmaps, translate business requirements into technical plans, and recruit top engineering talent. Requirements 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and scaling production systems, with 3+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role. Expert-level technical mastery in C#, .NET (Framework & Core), Microsoft SQL Server, SQL, ASP.NET Web API, and modern frontend frameworks like React. Deep experience architecting concurrent, fault-tolerant, scalable distributed systems using object-oriented principles, design patterns, and message brokers (e.g., MQTT, RabbitMQ). Strong commitment to software quality, incorporating a TDD mindset, unit/integration testing best practices, and robust CI/CD workflows. Hands-on familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and a strong enthusiasm for driving AI adoption across engineering teams. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of clearly conveying complex technical decisions to both technical teams and executive stakeholders. Preferred experience with cloud platforms (AWS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), caching (Redis), ORMs (NHibernate, Dapper), or IoT/RFID/BLE/GPS hardware protocols. Benefits Competitive salary package commensurate with executive-level technical leadership and experience. 100% remote flexibility, offering high schedule autonomy. Substantial opportunities for career advancement, leadership growth, and professional development. Direct access to cutting-edge AI technologies and forward-looking software development practices. Dynamic collaboration within a diverse, world-class global team powering software across major industrial sectors.
