We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to work on high-impact projects in a high-growth environment, alongside a world-class remote engineering team spread across 20+ countries.
Key Responsibilities:
Shape the technical direction and roadmap of Core Backend, building shared services, libraries, and developer tools used by engineering teams across Tabby.Identify common challenges across teams and turn them into reusable solutions that improve developer productivity, system reliability, and security.Lead the design and evolution of shared backend capabilities, including event-driven communication, application-level encryption, and sensitive data protection.Develop internal engineering tools such as our Service Catalog, API Registry, SLO platform, and AI-assisted development tools, making them useful and easy to adopt.Drive complex initiatives from problem discovery and design through implementation, rollout, and production validation, coordinating work across engineers and teams.Work closely with teams using our tools to understand their needs, support integrations and migrations, and use feedback to guide further improvements.Stay hands-on with Go, validate performance and failure scenarios, and build observability and recovery mechanisms into systems that other teams depend on.Raise the engineering bar through architecture reviews, clear technical decisions, mentoring, and documentation that enables others to own and extend shared systems.
What you’ll bring:
7+ years of backend engineering, including building and operating production systems at scale.Strong Go experience and a track record of staying hands-on in senior technical roles.Deep expertise in distributed, high-load systems.
Our stack includes PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, GCP, GitLab and microservices.Proven ownership of complex initiatives from design through production, including architecture and technology decisions with lasting impact.A strong grasp of quality, security, observability and operational excellence.Experience integrating third-party APIs and contributing to product development.The ability to influence decisions across teams and explain technical topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders.Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across a team or organization.Strong English and a proactive, autonomous approach to ambiguous problems.
