Role Purpose
The team lead/core solutions development provides technical leadership and hands-on development expertise for the credit union's Symitar core processing environment.
This position drives team growth through active mentoring, code review, and technical direction.
In addition, the team lead oversees the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of Symitar programming to support business operations and strategic initiatives.
This role serves as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and third party vendors to better understand requirements, develop effective solutions, and ensure reliable delivery of core system enhancements.
This position has a minimum salary of $92,100, but your offer amount may be increased with relevant work experience and transferable skills.
Primary Responsibilities

Some of the core deliverables for this role are:
Technical Leadership & Strategy
Provide technical leadership and direction to the Symitar programming team.
Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
Assist with development planning, prioritization, estimation, and resource allocation.
Stay current with Symitar/Episys, PowerOn, EASE, APIs, and related technologies.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, automation, system performance, and operational efficiency.
People Development & Mentorship
Mentor and develop programming staff, helping team members expand their technical capabilities.
Contribute to performance reviews of programming staff.
Champion existing and new processes amongst the team to help promote adherence.
Software Development & Quality Assurance
Develop, maintain, and support PowerOn programs, specifications, reports, and other Symitar customizations.
Perform code reviews and promote coding standards, quality, security, and maintainability.
Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide timely resolution.
Participate in testing, implementation, documentation, and ongoing support of software solutions.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Lead or participate in projects involving Symitar, integrations, APIs, third-party applications, and other core-system technologies.
Collaborate with business partners, project teams, IT operations, and vendors.
Perform other duties as directed by leadership.
Qualification and Competency Requirements

Typically, we’d expect a great vp/finance to have built capabilities through experiences that would include a minimum of:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience:
0-2 years of leadership experience.
Minimum 4 years of programming experience.
Industry Experience:
Extensive knowledge of computer, network, and security systems.
Advanced experience writing in multiple programming languages, such as Symitar PowerOn, JavaScript, Java, VB and proprietary programming languages or reporting tools.
Advanced experience using web services and formats such as HTML, CSS, XML, and XSLT.
Preferred Qualifications and/or Competencies
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a computer science field.
Work Experience:
Minimum 4 years of Symitar PowerOn experience.
Minimum 4 years of experience related to multi-user computer systems.
Minimum 4 years of experience with banking/credit union core systems.
Industry Experience:
Experience programming with Java, jQuery, SQL, PowerShell, and Client-Side Web Services.

Execution in Ambiguity: Drives complex production issues to resolution under uncertainty and shifting priorities, making sound technical calls with incomplete information and adjusting course as facts emerge.
Technology & Data Fluency: Moves fluently across multiple languages and platforms (PowerOn, Java, JavaScript, SQL) and makes security-conscious, ethical choices about how core-system programs handle member data.
Functional
Core Banking Systems Administration: Serves as the team's subject-matter expert on the Symitar/Episys core environment, setting PowerOn coding standards and building the team's shared technical practices rather than just following them.
Project Management: Independently plans, estimates, and sequences Symitar development work across competing priorities, adjusting scope and resourcing as project needs shift.
Continuous Improvement: Identifies and acts on opportunities to automate, streamline, or strengthen core-system programming processes without being directed to do so.
Stakeholder Relationship Management: Builds effective working relationships with business partners, IT teams, and third-party vendors, translating their needs into technical requirements and back again.
Technology Systems Proficiency: Applies deep, current knowledge of Symitar/Episys, PowerOn, EASE, APIs, and related web technologies to deliver reliable, maintainable core-system solutions.
Work Model and Conditions: Hybrid
This position works in-office where working conditions, lighting, temperature, audio, and workspace are all sufficient.
This position also works from home, where an appropriate work environment is required.
Work requires the ability to constantly operate a computer and the ability to read, type, and communicate.
Work may require the ability to move work-related supplies weighing up to 10-15 pounds.
