This work will support the operation and maintenance of SST, C-Band and DARC, located in Exmouth, Western Australia. These are major assets for Australia’s support of the United States Space Surveillance Network (SSN), which includes dedicated, collateral, and contributing electro-optical, passive radio frequency (RF) and radar sensors. SST is a ground based optical telescope used for detecting, tracking, and cataloguing satellites, near-Earth objects, and space debris. The C-Band Radar is a ground-based system used to provide southern hemisphere coverage of resident space objects for catalogue maintenance, space object identification (SOI), and support for special events. The DARC program is a ground-based system made up of 27 parabolic antennas working in tandem to create a large detection array with increased capabilities over present deep space detection systems. You Will Be Responsible For The Following Identify product, people and process risks and escalate through the defined processRaise technical information and manage the resolution of the associated risk through the end-to-end engineering processPerform design, analysis, implementation, test and lifecycle support of mechanical components, systems and sub-systemsPrepare, review, release and maintain engineering documentationPlanning, analysis and reporting of maintenance tasksGathering test data and analysis/presentation of the resultsRoot cause failure analysis and remediationManaging contractors on site and reviewing their workEnsure work complies with Australian StandardsScoping technical work packagesSpares and obsolescence management We are looking for the following skills, experience and qualifications: Mechanical systems expertiseStructural and lifting experienceProcess improvementChange managementRisk analysisTechnical communicationRoot cause analysisProject engineeringDesign process experience3D CAD design using CreoMechanical component selection and procurementKnowledge of configuration controlAbility to work independentlyKnowledge of systems engineeringRequires a university degree in mechanical engineeringWhite card is required for site access at HEH ExmouthSuccessful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance as needed.
